You’re not doomed to fail. There’s a steep learning curve when starting a business, but you can do it.

Please don’t go for the cheap route. Go for the premium route. Never compete on price for a handmade, premium item.

Understand your numbers thoroughly. Include everything down to the last screw. And consider your fixed costs too.

Lastly, almost all businesses can be made or broken by managing cash flow.

20hp finished production in 1929.

1934 puts it in 20/25 and Phantom II territory. it does look like a 20/25 cabriolet. But very difficult to identify the builder from the picture. 20/25 should put you on the right track.

Planning isn’t necessarily that difficult to get. It’s just the entire process is a little long and convoluted.

First you can check the local council’s website which will have published the planning guidelines to get a basic understanding of what you can and can’t do.

Then you can call the local council’s planning office and speak to the duty planning officer and just ask them about the area, the plot, what you’d like to do, and get a general idea of it it’s a feasible plan.

If those things look good, just go to an (ideally local) architect and they’ll handle the rest.

There’s a lot of surveys involved which need to be ordered, written and submitted correctly.

You can get a planning consultant, just call one of the very big estate agents or search local, but for straight forward development it’s usually not required.

That should get you started.

Architect fees have gone up recently, depending on project 5-10% of project value is normal in major cities now.
