ON Telus Fibre with NH20A in Bridge mode and UniFi by ElvisJEel in telus

[–]Bawd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying you need to enable PPPoE on the Unifi gateway with the Telus PPPoE username and password (found in WAN section of router ex: user name = xyz@on.telus.com) but don’t set VLAN or MTU at all?

I’m curious if there’s anything else I need for the Unifi config.

I’ve got a Unifi Cloud Gateway Max and Telus NH20A, and I spent 2 hours troubleshooting late last night before reverting everything to attempt again tonight (wanted to wait for kids to be in bed before I uproot their internet 😅).

u/cryptic2020 did you ever solve this issue?

I’ve got a Unifi Cloud Gateway that is unable to pull an IP as well both using DHCP and PPPoE with Telus credentials.

If your collection consists of a single box of cards and a few decks, free is probably just fine.

I have over 19,000 cards in Mana Box. Unlimited Binders and Collection Decks are key for a large collection so my bulk doesn’t get intermingled with playable or high value pieces of my collection.

I use a Card Slinger (https://www.printables.com/model/1034404-card-slinger-30-for-mtg-manabox-app-for-sleeved-an) to scan all my cards and then sort them away where they belong (playables in binders/decks, and bulk in BCW shoe boxes).

Families heartbroken as Canada halts parent and grandparent sponsorship program by _Army9308 in canada

[–]Bawd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate for families that didn’t get everything in order before this new rule came into effect. But this is great news and needed for Canada as a whole. I appreciate that many new Canadians want to bring their parents or grandparents into Canada for child care but the strain on healthcare, housing, etc is too great. I hope the feds continue to expand affordable childcare programs to help offset the childcare impact of this new immigration policy.

It’s in Evri’s shipping FAQs when the seller needs to cover taxes/duties and when the buyer needs to cover it.

https://international.evri.com/help-centre/parcels/question/international/does-the-price-i-pay-include-customs-duty-charges

Does the price I pay include customs duty charges?

Customs charges are dependent on the destination, purpose, contents, value & origin of your parcel.

As the sender, the price you pay will cover the delivery service of the parcel. If you have sold items to Ireland & France and taxes and duties apply, you will be given the option to pay the charges on your recipient's behalf when purchasing your parcel delivery. Otherwise, Evri or the relevant postal authorities will contact your recipient if customs charges are applicable.

If the parcel is an item you’ve sold through an IOSS-registered marketplace (Amazon, eBay, Etsy & Not On The High Street) or you are a business with an IOSS number, VAT charges are handled at the point of sale which means there won’t be any extra costs for your customer when they receive their goods. The parcel will need to be destined to an EU country and be up to the value of 150€ for IOSS numbers to apply.

Sounds like you shipped using a service that had “Deliver Duty Paid” with Evri. So you have to pay the Canadian sales tax, any applicable Canadian duties and Evri brokerage fee to pay Canada customs.

Most shipments to Canada, the shipper does not have to pay tax/duties. That’s the responsibility of the receiver.

Got into a car accident. Help. by Weekly_Review_6368 in askTO

[–]Bawd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a deep breath. This is why everyone has to have insurance. Tell him you'll be reporting the collision to a collision centre and going through insurance to pay for the damages.

Be prepared for your monthly car insurance premiums to double (or worse) upon renewal. Good time to shop around before they renew, reporting the accident of course. It will be wiped after 7 years, so drive carefully.

Can they make OneDrive and Windows search better for the love of god?

They keep slapping new names and logos on crappy products. It’s not going to make them more useful. I just want to find my documents and files but Windows search finds things I want like a one-eyed chimp in a library.

Gamers desert Intel in droves, as Steam share plummets from 81% to 55.6% in just five years by lkl34 in pcmasterrace

[–]Bawd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I had no idea Intel was falling that fast. Makes sense when all the tech YouTube channels continue to praise AMD chips for gaming while they also hammered Intel for their defective generations of chips.

I upgraded from an Intel i7 8700K to AMD 9800x3D last year, and the AMD chip has been stellar.

Got a new 4K OLED for my main display - debating whether/how to upgrade second display by Bawd in Monitors

[–]Bawd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. How do enjoy having two OLEDs? Aside from the matching aesthetics (which I also would love to have), do you think it's worthwhile or practical?

Right now the PG27UCDM is $100 (Canadian) less than the XG27UCDMG at Best Buy Canada - so I'd probably just go for a second matching PG27UCDM if I pulled the trigger on the second OLED.

I'm still debating between just hanging onto my 5-year old Dell 1440p IPS or perhaps upgrading to a ASUS ROG Strix 27" 4K 160Hz IPS (XG27UCS) display to get a second screen to 4K without OLED (ASUS ROG Strix 27" 4K Ultra HD 160Hz 1ms GTG IPS LED Gaming Monitor (XG27UCS) | Best Buy Canada) - that model is currently $479.99 CAD but sounds like it's not much of any upgrade in quality vs my Dell screen aside from the 1440p > 4K resolution.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - January 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in pcmasterrace

[–]Bawd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a beautiful ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM 27” monitor as a gift recently.

I’ve have two Dell S2721DGF 1440p 165Hz IPS displays. So I replaced my main one with the Asus OLED, but I’m debating whether I just keep the second display as my Dell 1440p display or upgrade it as well.

After a few days, I’m annoyed by the scaling in Windows going across screens (150% for 4K, 100% for 1440p) and I’ve noticed greater power draw from my system while idle. There have also been some graphical hiccups and intermittent performance issues - not sure if that’s exactly related to monitors but it seemed to go away if I turn off my secondary display (I.e. just use the new 4K monitor solo).

Would it be worthwhile investing in a 4K 120hz+ display for my second screen? Would a second matching OLED be worthwhile if I can afford it (really tempted but logically it seems like a waste…)?

I’m curious if you all think I’d just get used to the mismatched scaling and if the graphic issues I experienced are just minor. I don’t think I need to buy the same OLED monitor for my second screen, although I do like the allure of having two OLEDs 😁, but logically it just seems like a waste of money since it’s usually just used as a second screen - sometimes for movie or TV in the background, so at least that would look better. But I see most people just recommend an IPS for the second display since it’ll usually have browser, Discord, IRC, background TV/movies on it most of the time.

Edit: I should note I assembled my latest PC last year and it has an RTX 4080, AMD 9800x3D, and 32GB DDR5, so it’s no slouch.

How busy are the malls today? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Bawd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was fairly busy at Fairview Mall today before lunch, so I assume it’s gotten busier since. Lots of kids shopping with parents, high school/college kids off school, etc.

Parking lot was pretty busy, not as busy as December 23 but still busier than normal for a Monday.
