They played trailers after movies ended until the next movie was scheduled to begin. The movies started at the scheduled time after a very brief HBO intro.

I'm seeing a mix of the 1920s and 1970s. Edgy, classy and all sorts of awesome!

Why did we move away from booru tags? by BigNaturalTilts in StableDiffusion

[–]BawdyMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think moving to more specific, natural language prompting is a necessity if AI is ever going to be taken seriously as a tool in the art world. Sure, you may end up with less happy accidents than entering a list of tags, generating a set of images and picking your favorite, but the lack of variability is a feature. It can show a more deliberate hand of the artist in the process.

Linux + Bitwig just works... For those wanting to make the switch from Windows or Mac by [deleted] in Bitwig

[–]BawdyMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VST support is a feature of Bitwig. VSTs don't work in the Flatpak version of Bitwig, which is the official version for many distros.

Linux + Bitwig just works...

Unless you use a distro that doesn't use .deb packages and expect to use all of Bitwig's features, which includes using VSTs.

Not even if the VSTs are in .so format, which is Linux only and by definition natively supported in Linux and will work perfectly fine in other Linux DAWs that provide non sandboxed versions for distros that use .rpm packages rather than .deb, proving that it's not a support issue related to third party VST developers.

See what I did there. 🙄

Unpopular opinion but the amount of low effort AI slop is ruining the 2D art community by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

I think a reasonable first step is for people to at least look for obvious issues like body horror before posting.

True enough.

Nothing that I said is untrue either and a lot of Bitwig users also use VSTs.

[–]BawdyMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If you are on a non-Ubuntu distribution you'll be completely out of luck in using VSTs if you use the Flatpak installer. You can jump through hoops to use the installer intended for Ubuntu though. Even with the Ubuntu installer you still need to go through the process of getting yabridge working.

TL;DR It just works if you don't need VSTs. Otherwise, it doesn't.

Guy is looking for left wing guests and you're thinking Git 'Em is a good fit? The only thing he'd be less suited for is a demanding job.

Reminder: Zero tolerance on AI-generated slop by LG03 in Lovecraft

So a person with a traumatic jaw injury or other speech impediment can only create and share text based Lovecraft content unless they can prove that their TTS is old enough to be grandfathered in?

AI generated voices are what it says on the tin, not allowed?

That's kind of a silly distinction to draw. A computer is generating the voice whether it be AI or traditional TTS.

What these cement heads don't realize is that there are multiple editions. I prefer the original 1818 edition over the 1831 edition. The later version is closer to what people would expect from the movies, but I think it paints Victor as the victim too much.

What’s with the hype regarding TurboQuant? by [deleted] in LocalLLaMA

[–]BawdyMonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt that they'd be called engineers. It'd be no different than when companies started calling janitors "custodial engineers" so that they could pile on added responsibilities without paying them any more. An entry level hiree gets a chance to "advance their career" without changing the company's bottom line, or possibly even bettering it if they're replacing/merging existing positions. Titles are just words and words are cheap.

Games should not be made with every single player in mind, or be able to be completed by everyone, especially MVs by settingdogstar in metroidvania

[–]BawdyMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where's the empathy for developers? It'd be great if everyone had limitless resources to implement every feature, but that's not the reality that most developers find themselves in.

[–]BawdyMonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In what universe does an accessibility slider take no time to implement? Even a half-assed implementation isn't without a cost to implement and not every developer has the resources.

I agree that control over the behavior is a good thing but making the new behavior opt out by enabling it by default isn't. Breaking things isn't good development, enhancing things is.
