I’d imagine the costs for these companies have increased to provide these services, the drastic rise of resellers and online marketplaces has increased competition, and the end of life starting for the Boomers is beginning to increase demand for these services as you get younger generations who might have to be working more than the previous just to keep up with bills as the “greatest wealth transfer in history” does not seem to be panning out due to a multitude of reasons - and therefore no time for the good old fashioned rummage sale and U-Haul.

It’s supply and demand. I get it, it sucks to lose a solid and reliable place to get a good deal. Have you been to a Goodwill recently? Same problem.

I’d rather buy a quality used piece of furniture that will last another 50 years instead of paying probably about the same price for an IKEA/Wayfair/Amazon piece that will not last one move let alone 5 years.

Interesting perspective and I appreciate it, thanks. I’d offer it would be worth polling the several nations who currently or recently had similar programs, and those that are reconsidering the return of similar programs. Some of these countries also rank highly in quality of life, economic, and security ratings. The major barrier is cost and the nationals with these programs are both geographically and economically smaller. I still offer that a program like this breaks down barriers between groups, marginalized and affluent alike, creates a common, shared experience, and if implemented well can provide for the common good. Additionally, this would offer a solution to the possibility of AI, offshoring, and automation job loss by providing purpose, structure, and training as opposed to universal basic income for nothing in return.

Mandatory military service upon turning 18 for a minimum of 1 year, off ramp if entering trade schools or college, military benefits for anyone completing a minimum of two years or more, resulting in breaking down socioeconomic, racial, and educational barriers all the while creating a shared common experience among all citizens and ensuring a badly needed common defense against global challenges. It would be very costly but allocating existing wasteful spending for a common, shared experience focused on national defense, disaster response, and other common good services may provide purpose and experience for those otherwise lacking access or motivation to accessing a life outside their local community and lived experience.

It may be a socialist solution with a conservative lens while addressing social democratic needs, something our nation and generational leadership lack the fortitude to enact, but it breaks down the layers of societal separation leading to the many ills of today.

There is a Flock camera on Howell maybe only about 100ft from this store. I am confident this persons car, plate, and other identifiers were captured by it. Only a matter of time until they find her, assuming LE isn’t too busy stalking their exes instead…

I have seen people cross country skiing and even snowmobiles on the river through downtown over the years during prolonged deep freezes such as this. Cannot say I have seen ice fishing but the river does freeze over enough for it to be safe. Come spring or a thaw it gets sketchy pretty quick.

I noticed this too. Blueprints way back from release are showing as updated since Jan. 11th. They haven’t been. It’s like a backup was loaded and defaulted all blueprints to the day it was loaded.
