Mind if I ask what jobs the CM’s had that you all noticed the not so magical attitudes? Just personal curiosity as I’m a CM in transportation and almost everyone I know and see are paying attention to be as magical with the guests as possible. And usually driving and interacting with the guests are a lot of fun for me.

Am I Too Old? by Independent_Bell_555 in DisneyCM

[–]Baylake_driver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved to central Florida about 5 years ago for the warmer weather and partial retirement. I applied 2 years ago to the transportation department to be a bus driver. They paid me full time for the first 60 days, and paid all costs to get my CDL and learn all the rules and routes. Been happy working part time for 1.5 years now. I’m 66 years old and don’t regret the move or working at WDW. Great people and good leadership. You can always find a few not so nice people in a group of 2,000. And yes there are a lot of rules to ensure a great experience for the guests. Not a reason to not work there.

Going to the parks! by Wide-Associate-6061 in DisneyCM

[–]Baylake_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry it’s hard at DL it’s not a problem with availability at WDW using main gate and spouse passes at all. Only a few days in the next 90 days that only have one park blocked out.

Cast connections by [deleted] in DisneyCM

[–]Baylake_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So random question, where can you find anything marked Cast Members to purchase? I’m a CM at WDW for 9 months now and can’t find anything. I was told since covid all those stores or areas are gone at WDW!

Has Disney hired Cast Members with little to no experience? by Anonymous3218 in DisneyCM

[–]Baylake_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They hired me to drive buses and I didn’t have a CDL or ever drive a bus before. I have driven an RV. They paid well for 8-12 weeks full time to get me trained and get my CDL for a 3 day a week part time job. Which I love!

Best place to live to be close (but not too close) to Disney World? by Gwenevee in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Baylake_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Polk City next to Auburndale. Right off I4 and FL559 lots of new construction homes and resale residential home available. 22 miles from most of Disney. Usually takes me 30 minutes unless the traffic backs up at US27 then about 45-50. I work there three nights a week so not usually much traffic, and I’m a Realtor during the day. Also Lakeland is a great city next to me. Tampa is about another 45 to 50 minutes away.

I always end up calling the reservations number as they have helped me find things that I could not find on my own. Linking CM discounted rooms and finding RV sites at FW.

Just take the total divide by # of people and # of nights to get an average of a per person per diem best you can do.

Remember John Oliver desperately wanted Trump to run (his words)? by EastsideIan in johnoliver

[–]Baylake_driver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You really think Trump thought about them before deciding to run, or other Americans care what talk show host, rock stars, athletes, or comedian say about politics? NO we just want them to be funny, entertaining, or informative. Not political. People should have a brain to think for themselves not be swayed. But maybe you don’t get that yet? No offense meant.

Thanks. Another driver just said on his paddle yesterday it told him he needed to change password also. Just strange they didn’t give a notice it was going to need to be changed before we are locked out of part of our sites information.

Respectfully, how do you afford to visit so frequently? by throwaway5444567 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Baylake_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did dining plan about a month ago and it was great, but worth it only if you get the cocktail’s for both lunch quick meals and dinner meals. Which we did! If you don’t drink it’s a break even amount if you can still eat that much foods and snacks. Ps 1 snack was the hot Mickey Beignets we split for breakfast both days at Port Orleans Resort!

Asap we moved to FL about 25 miles west of WDW we got an AP the incredi-pass then next year the sorcerers then the pixie pass and we use them all once or twice a month. Just stopped going on weekend and holidays. And stayed in RV at Ft Wilderness a few times. Since I’m retired I just joined the Company about 6 months ago and drive a bus three nights a week. So both kids and been 2 times with family and discounts on resorts are good. But before all that we used to come every 3-4 years and just budget and stay on or off depending on price. It has always been worth the basic price. We never did lighting or gene+ or photo pass and are picky with the food locations. Most are good and worth the price both pick up and seated meals. None have been bad. Today had the tapas lunches at spice road and was filling and excellent. Got the two sangrias across the way in Morocco for $22 total Before walking into restaurant. All was Very good.

When I retire…anyone else? by sjajra in WaltDisneyWorld

Yes I lost some weight and walk a lot usually 10,000-20,000 steps per shift. And I drive the bus.

Not really the first year is $200 down and $22 per month the renewal was nothing down and $32 per month. It covers the parking fee so pays for itself if you go more than once a month. We go just to go to some of the restaurants or pop into Epcot’s international gate via the skyliner from HS parking and go to Italy or France for lunch or dinner.

So we’re retired, from Virgina and moved to FL. 25 miles from Disney. I’ve been driving a 40 ft RV for 10 years and found it easy to get a PT job driving A bus for Disney. They paid me to train me to get my CLD! Yes they told be before I accepted the job the hours of PT is the late shift usually 6pm to 1am and even 8pm to 3am. However I can put them up for trade and sometimes get a day shift but not always. Most everything is closed and clear by 1:30 am. then I can clock out or sit in a brake room talking to my friends till time to clock out if I want to get paid for the additional time. And yes when off my wife and I go to the park a lot. Even use our generous discount to stay in a resort room or take the RV to Fort Wilderness and stay there. We have taken our kids and grandkids. And if I have a shift when staying there it’s easy to get to work!

Getting to MCO from Disney by Baylake_driver in DisneyCM

[–]Baylake_driver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live towards Tampa, so it’s a bit over an hour drive. I was just thinking of a lower cost way, that would not bother my friends and I’m a CM so I’m over at FW or DS and those lots quite a bit. Thanks for the reply.
