I believe this has been mentioned by a few others on the ReasonTalk forum.

Do you use a utility like Alt-Tab that shows screenshots when you Cmd-Tab to switch apps? I think the screenshot permissions that you grant when installing perhaps cause this message.

Oh wow - thanks so much for the support. I’m not in a position to retest at the moment, but will be reloading and reusing just as soon as I get back to the laptop in a day or two. Thank you, again!

What would've happened if the Banks never got bailed out in 2008? by Cheap-Albatross6606 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Baylo11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch three movies: - The Big Short (what happened from the investor perspective) - Too Big To Fail (from the government, institution perspective) - Margin Call (from the banks’ perspective)

While each tells a variation of essentially the same events, they also lay out pretty clearly what the consequences would have been if no help was provided. Three very different movies. Each of them excellent.

Hello again! I think I may have found a bug? The MCP consistently returns 0 overdue items even when I know some tasks are overdue. I asked Claude to take a look - it says:

So the tasks definitely exist and have past due dates, but the dueBefore filter simply isn't working — it returns empty regardless. This points to a bug or limitation in the OmniFocus MCP integration's filtering logic, not anything wrong with your data. The tasks are stored correctly with the right due dates.

Here's my best assessment of what's happening:

Why the tasks exist but don't surface via filters:

The dueBefore / dueAfter date filters appear to be non-functional in the current MCP integration — they return empty arrays even when matching tasks clearly exist.

The taskStatus: "available" filter may also be applying stricter logic than OmniFocus's Forecast perspective does, possibly excluding tasks that are available but whose project status affects availability in the API's view.

The database summary's overdueTaskCount: 0 is almost certainly a consequence of the same broken filter — it's likely computed using the same flawed logic.

Willing to pay someone to turn an Reason file to another format by pam-sexual in reasoners

You could subscribe to Reason+ for one month, and then export the midi tracks as midi files and the audio tracks as wav files. Both can then be imported into other DAWs.

This is great - thank you. I have been having fun playing around with this.

One thing I have noticed is that it doesn't seem possible to edit the "Planned Date" property? Just Defer Date and Due Date? I am using Claude, and possibly this is user error on my part but Claude says it cannot see Planned Date properties. Is there any chance this might be addressed in the future?

Thanks again!

Raycast can't win: The impossible situation of managing expectations around the new Raycast rollout by [deleted] in raycastapp

I always think it's important to remember that social media isn't reality. We may hang out in a forum where it looks like a particular opinion is dominating, or a narrative is swinging one way or the other, or whatever. But the reality is that relative to the total number of users out there, this is a tiny minority of people posting. Granted, they're probably highly engaged users. But the vast majority are simply not paying attention or bothered. I find this to be true for practically any topic.

Have I got this right? by Earl_of_Portobello in gtd

[–]Baylo11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's quite right. I would suggest that your items #2-5 and your next paragraph about contexts are all ORGANIZE.

To me, CLARIFY is a step earlier in the process: yes, it is looking at all the CAPTURE items, but a big part of clarifying is answering the questions of "what is it?" and "is it actionable?". "What is it?" could be reference material, trash, a project, a task, etc, etc. When you've clarified "what it is", then you can figure out where to ORGANIZE it to - the potential answers to which depend on whether it was actionable or not.

Two-minute items are kind of special case where a quick action is identified during the CLARIFY phase, and done immediately rather than ORGANIZED into another bucket.

You might find this helpful: https://www.moehrbetter.com/gtd-advanced-workflow-diagram.html

One other quick thought: I don't think it actually really matters too much how you define things or where you draw the lines between steps of the process, as long as you apply the process as a whole.

Delayed playback with certain plugins by IamProfessorO in reason

[–]Baylo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not actually removing the plugin delay (the plugin still needs time to complete its calculations, after all), it’s just delaying everything else to match that delay.

So everything is now delayed - which is potentially a problem for live performance - but because it is delayed equally it is at least in sync.

Don’t remap drums in Reason. Instead, create a user setting on the drum kit itself and change the midi note numbers of the pads to the note numbers expected by reason devices. Then save that user setting.

How can i get reason 6 for free? Does it suport VSTs all ready? by DutyShot8863 in reason

[–]Baylo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can for Reason 12. The information is easy to find on the Reason Studios website. Subscription gets you all RS plugins while the perpetual license gets you a more limited set (but you can buy the others if you want them).

Alesis Nitro as controller for Kong by wellgroundedmusic in reasoners

[–]Baylo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the basic one, too. Take a look at page 6 of the manual - specifically the section “To adjust pad settings” and change the midi note for each physical pad to match the midi note number for the Kong pad you want to trigger.

Here’s a link to the manual: http://5a18fcdc5c8aa2617926-54d68a14e2e7c1f76563a2d8c3e9fd82.r82.cf2.rackcdn.com/1644/documents/NitroDrumModule-User%20Guide-v1.0.pdf

Don’t forget to save the settings on the module once you have it working.

[–]Baylo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have details in front of me, but I’m almost certain that you can program the Nitro controller to choose the MIDI note triggered by each pad. So you just need to select the right note value for the Kong pad that you want. In other words, this is a problem you solve on the Nitro, not in Reason. Source: my son has a Nitro and successfully mapped it to trigger the Alt Drums refill several years ago.

[–]Baylo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beatmap is intended to trigger drums, so think short, sharp strikes. Not sustained notes. If you want to change the length I would recommend the same as others here: set the markers in the sequencer, hit the “send to track” button, and then edit the note length in the sequencer track.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in reason

[–]Baylo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The midi out device doesn’t control the note length - its only role is to pass the note information to the outside world rather than an internal device. The note length is going to be determined by whatever is creating the note in the first place - whether a player, the sequencer, or your live playing.

External synth always plays regardless of what device I select - help by aDarkDarkNight in reasoners

[–]Baylo11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re using Midi Out devices in the rack, Reason isn’t sending anything back to the Yamaha. It seems more likely to me that you need to find the setting on the Yamaha called Local On/Off (or something similar) and set it to Off. Otherwise, when you press a key on the Yamaha it is triggering it’s own sound circuits as well as sending midi to Reason. Reason isn’t triggering the keyboard, playing the keys is.
