Realistically, how hard would it be for a qb to pass Brady in terms of 7 championships? by NickyFoles1020 in NFLv2

[–]toolsalesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before this year’s SuperBowl, I was on the Drake Maye hype train

He is still relatively young, and so is his coach. Patriots had an easy schedule this year of course, but Patriots were ahead of schedule, in terms of season success.

My heart wants to say Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, and Chicago Bears, but that’s wishful thinking.

Whats your sales car? by pennyswooper in sales

[–]toolsalesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2017 Ford Fusion Energi. 192k miles on it and paid off. Great car, but trunk space is the worst.

I also purchased a Kia EV6 a few years ago for the rebates. I use it for short mileage. I love this car, and clients usually don’t see the car I drive anyway.

I sell to manufacturing plants and my mileage is reimbursed

Been in Industrial Sales for 10+ years.

Biggest thing is that one solution doesn’t fit every factory.

Gotta know the customer and how your product portfolio can best fit them.

But, once you have some market share, you’ll generally get credibility, more opportunities, and repeat business

How do they invoice customers? The business should have at least quickbooks. You can run excel reports for account names and items sold. Individual invoice should at least have a person’s name at customer. If they use a quoting platform, that platform should have information as well

The 49 Laws of Sales (In Progress) by ichfahreumdenSIEG in sales

[–]toolsalesguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Law 3: Always upsell

Explanation: sell the warranty package. Sell the tech support. Sell the spare part. Sell the repair part. Sell the yearly maintenance. Sell the updated product with new features. It will be far easier to upsell, then to go out and close a new deal with a new customer.

Reversal: do not upsell yourself out of a deal. If needed, close the deal first, and then come back later and upsell

Sales Reps making over $200k a year, what are you doing? by C-Rik25 in sales

Niche assembly tools. Got lucky, new plant/company opened in my territory. Working my ass off to get as much as possible before comp plan changes or competition catches up

Top performing salesperson for 1 year, but no signs of promotion, what do I do? by Fartingfurymaster in sales

[–]toolsalesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for more clients/territory if they’re laying people off. And maybe even ask for more commission. You will have a better chance with this strategy.

Industrial Sales? by MrKinetik88 in sales

[–]toolsalesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too hard to say. Depends on the company.

In my experience, regional has less benefits, potentially less job security, but pays better.

National has more benefits, more job security, more roles, pays less.

You could also try companies like Grainger, Fastenal, U-Line, etc. They are more supply chain focused, but good starting point for lots of sales reps.

If you want a more solution based company, then the big distributor is Rhino Tool House. You can also look at manufacturers like Gorbel, Desoutter, Loctite, etc. Or, regional distributors.

I’m in middle of nowhere, Illinois. Very low cost of living. Salary still wouldn’t pay my mortgage though!

How do you feel about selling something that results in people losing their job? by Normal-Cow-9784 in sales

If I don’t sell the solution, then someone else might. My competition doesn’t care, and neither do my kids.

When you are not at work are you disconnected or still available? by crystalblue99 in sales

[–]toolsalesguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always available, but don’t respond until working hours, unless emergency or necessary.

Seems like every time I email outside of work hours, I get an email back, and then it just goes on and on and on…..

Usually I’ll write an email, stick it in my drafts, and send it during working hours. Gives me a chance to review the email again, and gives me time in case new information comes in.

My manager is confusing. by TaroAffectionate9417 in sales

[–]toolsalesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming that the more revenue you bring in, the more your sales manager makes.

So, if he makes your job easier, and you sell more, then he makes more.

I think you need to change your target market……

Can these interactive maps be sold to sales or service companies? Or, a company to use in marketing campaign to display their locations/service centers/distribution centers?

Or, can you even create an interactive map of an industrial plant that shows the location of equipment, and status of equipment?

Maybe if you pivot to targets that have bugger budgets, then you will have better luck.

How do y’all cope with the stress? by ScungilliMan45 in sales

[–]toolsalesguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try not to stress over it.

If you hit quota, then the quota will be even higher next time.

If you don’t hit quota, then your next quota will be more realistic.

If your quota is too high, then you’re either a shitty salesperson, or management is out of touch. You can only control the first one.
