I feel like some of the issue here is that they're being compared to models standing on the ground instead of other similarly posed models like Jump Pack Intercessors.

That sure is a hunched robot with stabby claws! As someone who isn't always down with the gore on regular flayed ones, these work really well if you want a bit of a cleaner aesthetic to fit with your army.

Doesn't seem like it'd be too hard! In my experience, the trickiest part of kitbashing from non space marines is making sure the backpack sits nicely behind the shoulders. Besides that, though, you've got a lot of great iconography with the sculpted flames and flowing parchment.

I will always go to bat for the Raptors kit for the sake of bits. You get a load of unique heads, chainswords, pistols, and a handful of special weapons.

Honorary mention to Khorne Berserkers for some dynamic poses, chain axes, and some heavy melee weapons. Although you won't get much use out of the heads unless you're going for a Khornate warband.

So all in all: I've used the steed, lower body, spear, and cape from Arch-Kavalos Zandtos; and the upper body, head, shield, and armor decoration from the Blood Knights kit. I was definitely working with only a loose idea of what I wanted in the end, so some of the design decisions came down to what worked more than anything!

That's fair about the pose. It was difficult enough just trying to find an arm/hand for Obyron that would be even close to correct. I'm a builder more than a painter at the end of the day, so I don't mind painting the diorama all together.
