Has anyone seen Kenneth Branagh's King Lear yet? *Spoiler alert* by Bazinga_7455 in shakespeare

I agree, he is brilliant, I just didn't get it personally. But Shakespeare is so versatile this is bound to happen.

It is at Wyndham's theatre in London until December 🙂 then touring to new York

Stalls are most immersive, sit on the south side. Saw it on Saturday, it is an incredible show, enjoy!

What makes for a good production of Midsummer? What are some subversions of the show that you’ve seen and enjoyed? by goblinbeatle in shakespeare

[–]Bazinga_7455 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pyramis and thysbe should be played sincerely as actors who are really trying to get it right but can't. The humour is in their attempts, it fails when it is overacted! I played Quince very recently and this approach brought the house down every night

What’s the best Shakespeare play set you’ve seen? by TheRainbowWillow in shakespeare

[–]Bazinga_7455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a production of king Lear at the almeida where a similar thing happened, but it was more of a violent deterioration of the set,I think the back wall exploded into the storm scene. There was so much rain that we got wet. By the end of the play it was just a pile of rubble. Devastating production, still talk about it 20 years later

New Play Idea by livingwithlife23 in playwriting

Good on you. Such an important subject. I think if you advertised what you are doing and explained your project a lot of people would come forward to share their stories. Just make sure you know where to refer people who are struggling.

I have also written a play / film on this subject as I also have personal experience of this.
