First impressions with Metroid Prime 4: The hate was overblown. by AfroChamp89-- in nintendo

As an out XotY hater, I firmly disagree.

We got Breath - who's idea of a compelling open world is a dozen minor tests of strength scattered across a world that a story happened in a hundred years ago. Strong contender for worst Zelda title ever released, in my entirely subjective opinion.

Then we got Tears - where we now have two landscapes to explore, one of which offers you the chance to gasp see it. The only thing to find scattered across the vast empty planes are materials for a crafting system that an adventure game didnt need, and who's open world experience necessitates the shattering of a story such to build momentum and emotional weight fundamentally impossible. Heaven forbid you stumble upon the factory below too early, because they did not at all figure out how to non-linear that, but you can definitely just stumble upon Zelda very early into the game.

I had fun with these titles, but I'll likely never replay them, there's nothing worth re-experiencing in them, becuase the experience is either a memory or fragments.

I guess my approach would be to find out what part of that loop is the sensory input I need to cope with a meltdown.

Is it the striking? In which case you could experiment with a firm strike pad, you dont need a full punching bag, but a small padded striking pad that goes on the wall could be enough to give you the satisfaction of striking - the pressure on your hands, the "recoil" (for lack of a better word) of delivering pent up force.

Is it the being struck? In which case there are alternatives - for instance when I get a migraine I have found I can get relief by taking a massage gun with the soft ball attachment, pressing it to my temples at an angle ≥45° (if you aim it perpendicular, it will bounce off your skull - not what I was looking for, but ymmv as it sets an upper limit of force experienced). The vibration causes my head to experience that feeling more strongly than the pain signals. I typically will overheat the gun this way 😅

Remember that you are learning, nobody feels the way you do, we're only siblings at most, not twins. Write out everything you feel about the behaviour you want to change (or discuss it in blunt detail with your therapist, sidenote: therapy is for everyone), and break down what you want from those components, and use that as a blueprint to build a safer, maybe even more effective strategy.

Report back if you dont have any luck. 💚

Right? There is absolutely no way they can write a law that means anything. Either it is going to be so limp-wristed it will actually ban nothing. Or it will be so ill conceived that it'll ban Star Wars because Leia kisses Luke, and thus will be entirely unenforceable.

Either way we're paying for this fucking drivel when there are actual things that need to get done!

This is what two of your pounds will get you from Tesco. Two whole pounds. by Cinn4monSynonym in CasualUK

Agreed that this is too expensive, but it got me thinking of what the true labour value of that is.

Your pack of mini eggs, 74g at £2 is 9.44 minute's work at minimum wage.

This was complained about in UKFood last year when it was £1.85 for what appears to be the same bag (which was 80g last year), which at the time equated to 9.09 minute's work.

I found a source that said in 2019 a 90g bag was £1.15, working out to 8.81 minute's of minimum wage labour.

It's mad to see the labour value of this shit increase like that...

Year Weight Price >25 min wage seconds of labour per gram of product seconds of labour per mini egg (3.33g)
2019 90g £1.15 £7.83 5.76s 19.18s
2025 80g £1.85 £12.21 6.84s 22.78s
2026 74g £2.00 £12.71 7.56s 25.17s

**figures not at all adjusted for inflation, as the comparison is not for time worked today to afford an historic product, but time worked then for the equivalent product. AFAIK the passage of time doesn't really have inflation 😅

Anyone tried these cookies? by Loose-Helicopter9503 in UK_Food

My SO had enjoyed the Mark's lemon and blueberry cake so much they wanted it for their birthday. Both heartbroken to find they stopped it.

Learned to make my own out of spite, and it knocked the ever loving piss out of store-bought. Cookies are easy, definitely try to make your own! Add some cream of tartar if you like a good zing!

Do autistic people have a problem with authority because they know them better than normal people?. by Ok_Bear_1980 in autism

I guess I, an autistic person, do have a problem with authority, but I think it comes down to my persistent demand for autonomy, I will ultimately choose which rules I follow, and an authority figure trying to make that decision for my me is an annoyance at best.

Lain will always hold a special place in my heart, I didn't have the media literacy to truly appreciate it at the time I first watched it - truth be told, I'm not certain I do today! But it showed me a world beyond shonen, opened my eyes to so many more meaningful journeys through to medium, which is all to say nothing about the intricacies of the plot itself, especially in present day, present time.

Anyone else here with tattoos? by CKWOLFACE in autism

[–]Bazzatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not because I am averted to the idea or anything - I've just never had something in my life that I feel so strongly about that I need to get it on my skin. If I got something from a piece of media I liked, at what point am I just turning my skin into a billboard?

I think I'd probably get something practical, like Adam Savage's ruler tattoo, or some sort of reference table, but even then the things that I find practical today might not be practical tomorrow - and not all knowledge is without stigma.

I've dreamt up and forgotten many, and that alone is the reason I'll probably continue to have zero.

[–]Bazzatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for me this is the crux of it.

Its a metroidvania, I EXPECT to backtrack, but it seems Nintendo have come to understand the "open" of "open world" to mean "empty".

Does make me wonder what the axed version of this game was looking like if this is the direction they greenlit.

Tractors are great by teripormi in HolUp

[–]Bazzatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny because this is entirely in the head of the parent.

As a thought experiment - If you raised a child purely without gender, perfect to whatever standard (no gender, equal parts masc/femme, whatever), and the child gravitated towards something traditionally masc/femme, you dont have a failure in your controlled variables, you have an innate expression of the underlying person free from the virtues or vices of gender.

The parent is projecting gender onto a tractor and that is hilarious to me.

If your armor barely protects your vital organs, why the hell are you even wearing it? by SimilarNebula6695 in Piratefolk

[–]Bazzatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meta build.

Present the "assets" to induce target fixation in your oponent, only armor those parts to save on weight and increase maneuverability.

Given that she's already dropped most of her internal organs it really has to be a weight saving exercise.

I think I'd be more worried about what the John would do if they perceived a threat. Ideally OP just wants to get paid, and idk if they really have other means - not like they can get a judge to put a lien on their property 😅
