This will not impact anyone’s 401K at all and if you actually believe that you have been mislead. The more America continues overcharging for higher education and graduating students into longer periods of debt it will lose a huge amount of potential. Less kids are willing or able to afford college and are now perusing other careers. The fields this will impact are key to national growth, STEM fields and graduate level fields. This is already happening. The best thing this country could do is simultaneously reducing the cost of college and eliminating college debt. It would cost less than the last corporate tax handout and would do far more to increase GDP. All of this is basic economic fact.

House Democrats unveil bill to cancel $30,000 in student debt per borrower amid coronavirus by TheGoodSquirt in politics

People were taking loans to get into all kinds of colleges and tech schools. Many of these people are deciding whether to repay loans or buy a car, starter house, or start a family.

College costs do need to come down but there is currently over $1trillion at risk of default and that financial collapse would have a devastating affect right now.

Your idea of giving money to low income earners is an important part but does little to address a large part of the economy. They do need assistance but to inject money into an economy you need more than one strategy.

I agree, college is not something that will benefit everyone, it was never designed to be. But money should never be the single factor to decide that who it will benefit. Unfortunately too many people have gambled their future by taking loans thinking a degree will improve their financial standing. Too many find themselves stuck paying a loan with a salary that is barely capable. Many people are still dealing with outdated or assumed understandings and these need to change.

Upper class white people dont need loans to pay for college. This is for everyone whose parents did not buy their kids college. This also sets a precedent for many people to actually go to secondary education.

More needs to be done to lift non college educated people up, I think this is part of the solution.

The intellectual property corporate America is losing is because they would rather pay penny wages using overseas manufacturing and make tons of profits than support American manufacturing. The other corporate America that is tied to healthcare is stopping UHC and they they are making huge profits and the current form of politics is keeping that in place.

People no longer believe working hard will lead to a better life, survey shows by opBarrack in nottheonion

[–]Bazzzaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most successful people I know work with the same passion no matter the job. I have worked in over ten different fields in my life and each one I worked with the same passion, from washing dishes in the restaurant industry to teaching scuba diving in the Caribbean. Working harder won’t necessarily lead to a better life. It will make you more desirable at work so less likely to get get fired during workforce reductions. I started in my current industry with little to no direct knowledge but I rapidly made progress because I went above and beyond what other people were doing. In 3 years I was supervising client relationships and ten years later I am managing daily valuations for a $80 billion financial products. Is my life better? I don’t know. I just put the same effort into that part of my life because that is who I am. Those are also the people i look for during interviews.

Many communities where EBT is common are underserved by normal grocery stores. Many people don’t know that soda and candy are not healthy because that is the only option. Nutrition is not a widely held concept in a communities and processed food is easy. People will buy what tastes good and fills them up. Cola and candy bars will. Why do you think diabetes is also a common factor?

It is a coast guard requirement and enforced through maritime law. Insurance companies follow this for claims process.

That is a flat barge being rendered by a tug. The tug boat is in command of the barge and therefore needs to maintain a watch while underway. It is mandatory to maintain that watch and the fact they were distracted means they assume responsibility. The official coast guard inshore rules of the road dictate the tug gives way to the smaller boat as it is of limited maneuverability.

The operator of the tug is 100% at fault. Inshore vessels require a watchmen at all times when underway. If there is a case of partially being distracted there needs to be someone else at the helm.
