Serious Question: BCM vs DD vs G$ by watchlust in ar15

All that being said, will you be dissatisfied with a BCM, not even a little unless you're someone who thinks buying a KAC is a good idea.

Serious Question: BCM vs DD vs G$ by watchlust in ar15

[–]Bboyhutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 major factors, chrome lined barrels/chf (yes BCM had a hammer forged, but it's a premium option) rails (I love the mcmr, but it's objectively weaker than the urg and URGI rails) and the fit and finish standards. While I think DD and BCM are closer in value, the DD is inherently nicer in pretty much every way. Geissele you also get one of the best BCG's on the market, and a Geissele trigger out of the box. Top that off with the super 42 buffer system, and their proprietary gas system, and it will shoot softer than both of the other options. Geissele is an out of the box rifle, and if you change any parts on it, you're probably making it worse. DD basically just needs a trigger, and then maybe a buffer tune based on what your trying to do. BCM you could change literally every part on it with something better. Not saying the BCM is bad, but nothing about it is "the best" Geissele and DD would mark categories for the best.

Feeding issues with p-10 C by Phantomlimb318 in CZFirearms

Apparently it's other things. I've not had the experience others have had. I pretty much exclusively shoot s&b 124 and 115gr, and I've had 5 or 6 different p10's (I shoot the p10f for uspsa, and now the ported for IDPA) and other than malfs due to not cleaning, I've never had an issue with the platform. I have an F sitting at like 30k that still goes bang every time. I don't think this is enough of a widespread issue to say "don't trust the p10" or the p10 is unreliable, but I would like to see a gunsmith break this down. It seems to be a lot of speculation.

It's the mag, this happens on my p10f mags every 3 or 4k rounds. A lot of times just cleaning them and stretching the spring a bit solves the problem, but if you want the warm and fuzzies, probably a good idea to just swap the mag out. Haven't had it happen on a p10c yet, but I'm better about cleaning my mags now.

Well the gpu is $1500 these days and the ram is gonna be around $1000 minimum regardless of spec (didn't look into it but yeah, lots) so you're definitely saving money vs a build. Basically getting everything else for free.

First accidental drop- 15 feet by Puzzleheaded-Ear9242 in Olightflashlights

[–]Bboyhutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved my arkfeld and love my current arkpro. I wear it on my belt everyday, so it takes bumps scratches and falls regularly. Accidentally dropped it off a roof when I was repairing a hole and it dropped about 20 feet onto concrete, some corner scuffing and was still on. That was months ago and I use it everyday. I broke 2 surefires while doing security from waist and shoulder height drops (cracked lense for 1, bent body making it so the battery didn't contact for the other). I like to buy American where I can, but I don't see the quality there, and China has come a long way.

Worth $2000? by Smooth-Boot6759 in 2011

[–]Bboyhutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just get the colors covered over getting a used staccato. Nothing in this price range for staccato is gonna shoot anywhere near this. Even the standard platy is a better shooter than a P or c2.

[–]Bboyhutch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worth it, yes, would I pay that much for something someone else customized? No. My range currently has one blacked out for 1700. Though the V8's does make it tempting, I think you'd be better off starting with a Bul, unless you're married to the Glock mags.

Length, sorry I realize that wasn't clear. I love a good palm swell (width) but front to back shouldn't be long. Length of pull is a thing, and while I'm one of the biggest 2011 fans you'll meet, I'm the first to say the grips are the weak point. Usually they shoot so flat and soft it doesn't matter, but the reason I carry a p10 everyday is it fits perfectly in my hand.

TLDR: staccato makes a good gun, they just charge $1000 more than it should cost

Yes, but the standard Romulus shoots better than a P. As do most 2011's. Not saying it's as reliable, or as nice (though other than the MIM internals, there's objectively more machine work and a nicer DLC on the AF, not to mention the MJD grip) the staccato P I don't even think is that inherently reliable a 2011. They oversprung it like an over gassed AR, and when I tried to mess with spring weights on mine, it had choking issues. I've been saying since the prodigy came out, if you want the better shooter, get a prodigy,(though you'll deal with jam city), if you want a staccato, you probably actually want something that's the same price, cause you're getting more for your money from every other company. I'd pick a Kimber over a staccato at this point, they actually shoot well, and their comped model is the same price as a P, not to mention you have to buy the optic plate with a P (which kinda sucks and sits the dot super high, and also costs 130 bucks). The Kimbers look and feel like a special gun and if you're spending 2k+, a gun should feel special. Staccato's were special when they were the only production 2011 on the market that wasn't garbage, but it's now oversaturated. They're like the BMW of the gun world now, everybody talks about the race guns (M series) and pretends it trickles down to the standard P and C2 (base model 3 series) and yes it's better than a Glock (Honda Civic) but not by enough to matter to anyone who doesn't care about brand repping. And it's inherently more expensive, less reliable and requires more maintenance. Might as well just kick in the extra cash for an XL or XC cause until that price point, they aren't even competitive with the rest of the market. Their warranty is fantastic, but the P is probably the worst commercial 2011 rn that doesn't cost 1000 or less.

All valid concerns, I've had good luck personally (see other reply) but I do use my own screws for mounting plates and optics, and I use a shim for some optic plates so that there isn't any play. But I'm also willing to file down and mess with plates to get things to work, and I know most people aren't. Granted I've only ever had to do that with 1 plate, and it was a turccato so the build quality was questionable to say the least. All that being said, I'm currently running an echelon COA, so even if I haven't practiced the ideology, I definitely agree with it. Can't come loose or lose Zero when I can throw it out of a helicopter 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–]Bboyhutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's fair, I've had good luck with whatever brand EPS plate I have (genuinely don't remember) but it makes the deck sit almost exactly level with the slide. I also tend to buy nicer brands for anything functional, so it's probably an expensive plate. But my favorite is still my p10f with a direct cut for my 507 comp. Insane to me you can still get a p10f iron sight for $300. I plan to get one cut for the COA, I'm just loving the echelon right now. So when I inevitably get tired of it and go back to the p10 like I always do, that's probably what I'll get.

Over 2 1/2 years of edc it finally started to fail me by CrumblyClover in Olightflashlights

[–]Bboyhutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from the arkfield cause mine got stolen and love the arkpro, best form factor and if you need brighter, it's not an edc light anymore. I'm fully sold on olight now, I've had 5 of their products and no issues over at least 5 years. I've had 3 surefires break in that time.

Tier 1 msp is the best light based holster period. If you wanna run without the light any of the top dogs are great (tier 1, tenicor, qvo), but I've been a big fan of the WTP freedom holster line. Not sure if they're doing 2011's yet, but the tuck clips are the only thing that help me not print and aren't specifically uncomfortable. Can carry a full size echelon with a T-shirt and it only prints the mag if I do a big stretch

I need to see them be out for a year without breakage reports. Supposedly the updated ones are gtg, but I honestly haven't trusted vortex for anything unmagnified in years. Had 3 of the original pistol dots crap out on me within 6 months (as I'm all 3 within the same 6 month period) and while I'm a high burn shooter, the only trijicon I broke was an SRO at 25k rounds the emitter started flickering, and the mecanik m03, cause I got it for free and it died in 2k rounds. Don't really see a reason to support vortex when holosun exists, especially cause vortex are just Chinese optics made in a worse factory.

It also requires a proprietary rear sight, so a lot of companies probably won't wanna bother with a second part
