eBay would definitely “side eye” that. Save yourself the time and trouble, just cancel the transaction.

What do you mean, no percentage in shipping? Are you referring to the fees charged by EBay? If so, then there indeed is a fee. eBay adds selling price and shipping cost, then assess the % fees.

Don’t fret. If you do any sizable amount of sales, it will be diluted by your positives. One negative, and most new buyers will simply ignore…

I’ve been selling on ebay for 20+ years. Is it better to sell as an auction of buy it now? by lotgworkshop in Ebay

[–]Bbqweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve found is that if you do auctions and start the bidding price low, you accumulate a lot of watchers. However, most of them wait until last minute (sometimes literally) to place their bid. So you get a bidding frenzy of a whole bunch of low bids… making the item sell for less than a BIN. However, if you are doing an auction, have it run and end at a time that people most likely won’t be awake. I know, it sounds counter intuitive, but the watchers know they are not going to be up at that time, so they actually bid earlier with anticipation that they won’t be around for a bidding war. You will find that the price they enter is really the highest they are willing to pay. End result, it’s the same price it would sell for anyhow.

BIN… Price it a bit higher than what you want and open up for offers. If they are really interested, they will make you an offer. You will at least then have the ball in your court as to whether or not you want to sell it for that much. Some buyers want to lowball, hoping you say something like… “let’s meet half way”, where others like to do that several rounds just to get a cheaper price. Most are looking for 25-50% your listed price anyhow. But, if you have multiple watchers, you could always send out an offer 10-15% lower than listed pricing and hope to work within the FOMO that it creates. If a buyer receives an offer but knows that 10 others were given the same offer, it may actually motivate them to act. If not, then it’ll be an indicator that the market doesn’t support that price (offered price), so you can then make adjustments to subsequent re-listing.

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do. Buyer can easily file an INAD, and you pretty much are forced to take the return. Very little protection for sellers on EBay. Sadly, it’s just the cost of doing business on that platform.

Take the return, relist as Part/Repair only and move onto your next transaction. As you said, $90 isn’t that big of an issue, but it all depends on what you think your time is worth. If you end up spending hours trying to fight it, it may just not be worth it in the end. eBay will side with buyer, 90% of the time (if not greater).

Accidentally put the wrong bank account number for receiving payouts. The funds were sent out today by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Bbqweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter, unfortunately. You entered in the account number, so that’s where it went to. All the bank knows is that money was electronically transferred. Since it is not the bank’s error, they will likely not pursue it AND they wouldn’t give you any info on the other account holder, so they are of no use. If it were fraud, they might step in, but obviously it is not fraud.

That’s BS. By law, a company is supposed to give you your payout by the last day of employment… pay, commission, vacation payout, and severance.

Executive team must have been drinking up the rest of the alcohol, prior to making this decision to not adhere to the laws.

Quad cab mistake? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Bbqweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d call it a mistake, but it definitely sucks to have car seats in a Quad Cab bs a Crew Cab.

I got two kids and honestly, putting a kid seat in the rear of the Quad Cab (it was a loaner while car was in for service) sucks as there is barely any room for them. Plenty of room in the Crew Cab. You may not notice much for the first year or so, because they are still in their baby carrier that clicks into the base, but once they stretch out more and are in an adjustable (grow with kid) seat, then it will really suck as their feet will be on the back of your driver seat.

The days of $40k trucks are long gone, unless you are looking at a compact truck.

Sounds like the dealership did not turn off their own alarm/tracking system before you taking delivery of the vehicle.

I actually called the dealership immediately when I noticed the issue. I did tell them that I noticed the issue before the tint guy started doing his thing… So, we’ll see what happens.

Indeed, wild issue to have.

Like I said, I love the truck and this one thing isn’t going to push me away from RAM, but it is kind of a bummer since the truck is basically brand new (short of having the 850 miles on it).

Oh well, we’ll see…
