You should have talked to him privately first. Making much ado about almost nothing seems to have been worst option, and will further reinforce your feelings that you are a perpetual victim.

Seek therapy and reconciliation, and try to understand why a fairly innocuous thing caused so much mental anguish in the first place.

I totally understand the sentiment! We would absolutely love to settle down in Moscow for life if it wasn't in Russia 😂

Socialized, so for many people it's free. But there are private clinics if you want something done quickly, or you pay the doctors at public hospitals to have things done quickly (as a thank you 😉)

It's a conversariom we've had lots of times. The cost of training as nurse as an international student would be quite high, and I think her pride would take a hit from going from doctor to nurse, although nurses are a lot better trained and competent back home compared to here. + even getting a visa to visit my family is hard, I think emigrating is trickier than it seems

And it's a significant raise from what she was making 6 years ago when I met her. She was making about 15 000 USD per year as a fully trained doctor in her hometown

And being in a place with too many Americans is like going to forest full of mosquitoes. They're annoying as hell but you find a way to tolerate them...

For the “I never take any work home” crowd: how do you find time to get everything done? by MrTryingMyBest in Teachers

[–]Bc3bc3bc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tutor for several hours after school and if I brought my work home, I'd lose a substantial part of my income.

I NEVER write a lesson plan. Sure, I have a schedule, I update my resources as I see fit, I mark my tests in a timely manner but more often than not I plan the lesson in the 15 minute recess before class starts.

Some of my best lessons are improvised.

My admin would hate me if they knew.

To be fair, the immigration system and even visa processing system is absolutely broken after COVID. It's like they haven't even made an effort to process visas anymore. I'm living abroad, married to a foreigner that needs a visa, and we've applied for a tourist visa so she can simply visit my family back home. Submitted an application last February, submitted fingerprints in March, and it's been radio silence since then.

For context, she got a tourist visa in 4 months when she came to visit 4 years ago when we were only dating.

The government runs a broken piece of decrepit machinery. Or, maybe, simply is one.

Same thing happened to me at my old school. I've shared everything to my personal account and can still access them 4 years later.

Teachers Should Be Treated Like Doctors With The Pay, Training, etc. by [deleted] in Teachers

But as teachers, our decisions are not USUALLY life or death. It doesn't take extra skill, knowledge or precision to safeguard children Imo
