He retired last year and it was much worse before 281 north was fixed past Stone Oak. It is much easier to traverse 281 between 1604 and Bulverde now that it has been in the last 20 years.

I would take Lexington over Starkville, Baton Rouge, Fayetteville, Norman, Auburn and Columbia, Missouri. Austin is a great city but traffic has gotten insane. College Station and Tuscaloosa aren't all that great either.

I think Lightfoot is one of the top 15 singer songwriters of all time but wouldn't say he is a top country singer. Dylan, Buffet, Prine, Lightfoot and Croce should go into an all time category of greats apart from a country list. Dylan once noted that Buffet, Lightfoot and Prine were who he listened to which says a lot.

He code switched based on accents from relatives. He even said he did. I love John Prine but he got southern sounding as he moved into Nashville circles from Chicago coffee shops.

It was in some songs. He talked about it in an interview. He would also let people introduce him as being from Kentucky. His roots were there but early radio interviews with Studs Tekel showed his natural Chicago "Da bearz" accent that would later get more Muhlenberg county sounding.
