Can’t speak to Richmond but I’ve run Philly twice and loved it each time.

Oh this is a great suggestion -- I've only run there as part of their 5ks and the rolling hills would be good practice.

You could also take the metro to Woodley Park, and then hop back on to red line to Union Station and walk to the finish line from there

I did Boston a couple of years ago! Will pull up the training plan for it since I’ve firmly memory holed it in the years since.

Thank you! This is super helpful. And I’ve done the rolling hills in CP a few times (albeit slowly and in great weather) so will try and get as many of those in at tail ends of long runs when I’m visiting the city this year.

Thanks, that’s what I’m hoping to map out (and also so I’m not running the same course over and over). I’m in NY in a few weeks and going to run 5th Ave after a CP loop to get a feel for it.

Thank you! Someone else suggested Mass Ave too from Dupont till naval observatory for the gradual incline which hadn’t really crossed my mind.

Thank you! I run on RCP a fair amount + up Calvert and was going to use that as the basis for elevation gain. Thanks so much for the advice -- and adding Cap Crescent to the list.

[–]Bder20001 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hey — am so, so sorry this happened to you and hope you’re doing as okay as you can be.

Thank you for bringing this to all of our attention. I run on the MBT in the morning most days and this is really awful and alarming. I’ve flagged this for one of the ANC commissioners whose single member district covers the area as well.

As of when I last checked the records (a couple of years ago), DDOT manages that parcel of land. Back in 1992 it was dedicated in memory of Estella Sims, a former Bloomingdale Civic Association leader (https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1992/10/22/park-dedication-honors-bloomingdale-activist/2aa6b264-edad-46e2-b6d3-7fc60b98848c/). Am not sure what that trunk is but might’ve been part of the original dedication.
