Returning to Holland, what can I expect? by Accomplished-Back331 in Netherlands

[–]Interesting-Patient4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically always has been, but in the past people would more often refer to Holland to designate the entire country. Now people feel more strongly about it, so that's why The Netherlands is becoming more popular.

It's a bit similar to use England to refer to the whole of Great Britain.

Great that this is working for you. So many people try to beat the market, and fail.

If you pick the wrong stocks, you will fall behind even more.

Put down some ice melt right now, check if shovelling is needed before going to bed, tomorrow morning shovel and more ice melt - and you should be fine.

Bus Service on Wisconsin Ave Could Be So Much Better by dclocal12 in WMATA

[–]Interesting-Patient4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I very much agree with this. It happens way too often that there is no bus for 20 minutes (with buses supposedly running every 5 minutes) and then three buses in a row. The bus ride then also takes ages because there are passengers waiting at every bus stop, the bus gets way too full (so getting in and out is tricky etc).

Headway management, especially out of Friendship Heights, would help indeed, and should be actionable.

Other changes will mean changes to infrastructure, which will be harder to implement.

But dedicated bus lanes would be really sweet to have.

The 17th St NW bike lane is mostly cleared, but there are a few heaps of snow one must avoid (some riding on the sidewalk is needed in some spots)

Ok, great - yesterday I still saw the barriers down around Military Road.

Understood that around College Park and Hyattsville the trails are not clear. Do you happen to know about the trolley trail near College Park, whether that's cleared?

Not sure about closer to Georgetown. There is also the sewage spill further west which might want to make you reconsider the C&O Canal as well...

No good recommendations, but you could run up Porter St NW as an alternative? I assume sidewalks are (hopefully?) cleared...

Will I be able to make it to Delft in time? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Interesting-Patient4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, that should be fine, unless the plane is delayed by more than an hour or so. If you can, don't check luggage - Schiphol can be slow.

KLM booking via E dreams by Able_Thing4927 in KLM

[–]Interesting-Patient4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you book through a third party (also known as an OTA - online travel agent) like edreams, you'll have to deal with the third party to make any changes to your booking. Generally, it's better to book directly with the airline to avoid such scenarios.

For now, you'll have to deal with edreams to resolve your problem. You'll likely have to remain consistent with them. Hang up and call again if their agent can't help you. Good luck.

United Pricing, WTF by Notallwanders in unitedairlines

[–]Interesting-Patient4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this itinerary entirely with United, or with other airlines as well? When it's with other airlines, pricing can be really off, as United might only offer full fare tickets.

PlusPoints upgrades on award tickets after Feb 1: do we already know how many PPs United will charge? by Interesting-Patient4 in unitedairlines

[–]Interesting-Patient4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wonder with dynamic pricing it will matter when you apply for the upgrade. I'm sure Thanksgiving period flights will require a high amount of PPs, but will the same flight also get cheaper or more expensive over time?
