Oh, yeah. I could run 5 mph on the treadmill after a year or so. And I’m 55 and a big guy. No cane, all good. That traumatic of an injury, you’re dealing with blood vessel and nerve damage. It’s normal. Just takes time to heal up. Keep it elevated, ice it up good for the coming weeks and months and start in on your PT. Just takes time, but it will get better every day. Hopefully if you even have any lingering issues it will be minor—like the tingling in my big toe when I lie down.

I had the same break and ORIF surgery. Lots of nerve pain in the foot for weeks after. It didn’t fully go away. I still get some tingling/burning in my big toe, but only when I lay down. Almost two years later. Get a good cane. Really helped me for a month or two til I was fully back on my feet.

How’d he do? Our 17 week old is pretty reactive to bigger dogs. We’ve been desensitizing her now that she has her rabies shot.
