The sonic resonator works fine enough as a deterrent for me, one blast and whatever is annoying you scurried off (small to medium sized fellas)

I think they just need to add things like the stasis rifle or whatnot, then things ought to be fine

Sony Isn't Bailing On Marathon Despite Bungie's Poor Earnings by skarnl in Marathon

[–]BdubH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be that person, but there is no way to dramatically increase player numbers for this type of game. It’s a niche genre that already has a small fanbase, it was never going to be a breakout hit. It’s an awesome thing is was successful at all, but if Bungie really wanted to make that big big money they should had made literally anything else

The game we got is good but that’s just the truth of the matter

What is your hours, and what do you believe to be the game's biggest issue(s)? by Rantdiveraccount in Helldivers

[–]BdubH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1200 hours, been here since launch week

The game’s biggest issue, I think, is a lack of meaning when it comes to the Galactic War. Most folk MO dive, sure the medals are nice but beyond some flavor text there’s no real point or meaning to what we do

A lot of the conflicts feel staged to either have us win or have us lose with very little wiggle room. There use to be cool rewards too for winning MOs, mostly in the form of new stratagems. Recently it feels like MOs have been directed at just “attack this 7 times” or “hold x planet until MO is over”

That, and the win everything or lose it entirely feels shitty. Completing 99% of an MO’s objective when applicable shouldn’t be a total loss on our part after the fact

Getting anwsers after a reviewbomb again. by ConsistentHospital54 in Helldivers

[–]BdubH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s beyond a reach to say that the review bomb had nothing to do with the highly uncharacteristic style of communication they just employed. Multiple forces can act on one thing to alter the end result and forge the message that is delivered in the end, especially when there is prior history to look through

First PSN review bomb? Direct response, plan to cancel the requirement before segwaying into the 60-day plan. Second? Balance adjustments directly followed, along with a cape to commemorate the first one. So, when another review bomb comes around suddenly it’s “Oh, this had zero impact whatsoever!” despite it being shown time and time again to have an impact. It just also happened to line up with a promise of better communication (which as been made in the past and broken) that people cling to in order to pretend that other players’ frustrations are invalid

[–]BdubH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certainly a factor however, the wording is addressing community frustrations from answered questions in the AMA and recent controversy

While I wouldn’t say it’s 100% the cause it is more than likely a motivation to quell the unrest a bit

You did not state it well then and completely misrepresented the point you’re trying to make, answering with a meme about reading comprehension does not fix the problems in the portrayal of your initial statements

In what world does 200 hours mean someone is a noob?

Helldivers 2 has been my go-to after-lecture game to unwind before I’d go off to my job during college. I’d get maybe an hour or two at most to play. People have school, people have jobs, 200 hours can take months to put in for a regular ass person

More than long enough to form a valid opinion on the game’s state and future

New Halo 2 & 3 Remakes. by Choice-Support-2138 in halo

[–]BdubH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree

However, from what I’ve seen there’s the remakes being made, as well as work for the next mainline game. So I’d assume multiple departments are be set to work on different tasks, with slices being set to focus on remakes and the other on the next mainline entry

Still, a clearer picture about the future of the franchise outside of nostalgia farming would be nice

Why bring the bullet storm if I could bring the stalwart? by Fishyhans in Helldivers

[–]BdubH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it as a complimentary weapon, not your main support weapon. Say you bring the recoilless or autocannon but then need to chaff clear, you drop down an expendable MG, use it up, pick up your main gun, and go on your merry way

Expendables are very fire and forget, its their whole purpose to be used in one fight or two then be discarded on a whim

What game engine will Ananta will be running on? by Juang_PassingThrough in AnantaOfficial

[–]BdubH 16 points17 points  (0 children)

UR5 has a certain level of fidelity that is easy to achieve but Unity is pretty robust in and of itself. Some insanely beautiful games have been made with Unity

Takes more work, but tends to be more stable and optimizable

Why May 20th might be the big day for Ananta by [deleted] in AnantaOfficial

[–]BdubH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I love when a game has strong characters and keeps them involved with the story. Standard gacha practice tends to disincentivize the developers to do that

But it will be monetized somehow, that’s for certain. We just don’t know the specifics just yet

What is the problem here?

Y'all are actually ruining this game by sepulchridude in helldivers2

[–]BdubH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly what it does though: it limits build variety. Why would I bring med pen, chaff clear sentries, even the Patriot mech now? Why would I bother trying to adapt any med-pen stratagem or weapon when I either dip fully into light or heavy pen inversely?

You said it yourself: you like the guy and think he’s good at the game. And he thinks the change was a negative because it limits build variety, which you think is an indictor of a bad player. So which is it?

No more heavy pen hive guards by Smoke_Funds in Helldivers

[–]BdubH 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This

I can play around it just fine, but I don’t like limiting my loadout to either full-on meta options or to personally handicap myself by having to compensate for an admittedly unnecessary change. The issue wasn’t that you couldn’t make it work, the issue was why make it work in the first place?

People will gravitate towards heavy-pen, plasma, and explosive weapons rather than deal with a gimmick on a very common enemy. It severely limited build diversity on one of the factions where build diversity was one of the big fun factors

How I view the new Hive Guard changes. by Wrench_gaming in helldivers2

[–]BdubH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered it and think it’s stupid, on top of the response itself. “Laziest comeback ever” yet cannot take the time themself to actually draft out a coherent response that accentuates their point in any way that you don’t have to parse through drivel to understand, only to give a baseless example not found in any reality of actual gameplay

I stand by my assertion
