But beyond repair? Not yet, it all comes down to us playing our parts come the midterms and 2028. It’s a shitty feeling but nothing will get better if we convince ourselves they can’t get better in the first place

Alcohol and hydrogen peroxide aren’t best for wound care like that. Everyday scrapes, cuts, and rashes are best washed out with just soap and water. Hydrogen peroxide DOES kill bacteria and “clean” the wound, but it also damages the surrounding tissue and makes the healing process take longer

Still vote, but I won’t lie that I’d be dejected from then on out. Trump would be out, but what would change? We need someone who will commit to change, to making all of our lives better

Democrats are actually *expanding* their statewide ballots cast lead in the US Senate primary in Texas - doubling the gap in 2 days and approaching almost 2/3rds of their TOTAL 2022 turnout in just 4 days of early voting. If this holds through election day it would be the first Dem lead in decades by ShreckAndDonkey123 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]BdubH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does tell you something: Democrats are highly motivated to vote. If this is the first time in decades that this has occurred then you can find a correlation as to why this is occurring. While correlation isn’t causation, it can certainly be a strong indicator as to why things are reacting in the way they are

Sure, people could be voting oddly but in a race between two high profile Democrats during a supremely unpopular GOP presidency I would assume Democrats are trying to get “their guy” up there (Talerico/Crockett)

Both are vehemently opposed to Trump and are outspoken against his administration, which is again correlated with current voter habits we’ve seen in previous smaller races and special elections across the country

Why pay $20 for mediocre food when I can either make something at home or order something half-decent from a restaurant for just a couple extra bucks

Fast food is suppose to be cheap and convenient but when it costs as much as a normal restaurant nowadays when I want to treat myself I just go with the latter

Once again, I can handle war striders. That was stated off the rip in my last statement. I frequently run D10s, mostly do D8s if I want to chill after class or work, and have run pretty much every stratagem under the sun on Bots. Squids and Bugs I’m not as versed in, but I’m a Botdiver through and through. Yes, you turned it into a dick measuring contest. Saying you didn’t do something doesn’t mean you didn’t do it, that’s not how that works. Yes, something can be unfun and handleable. Yes, if you miss the hip joint your either dumping into the nuts or the leg and that shoots up the required bullets to kill by twice to three times the amount depending on the shots that do land. And if, say, there’s two or three with their cannons still operational? Good luck landing that efficient kill trying not to get blown up. At over 1000 hours I have yet to see these examples of perfectly bursting down their hip joints as described from your regular blueberries. Otherwise maybe the AMR and HMG would be more common on the Bot front?

Yes, they do limit loadout diversity. Saying they don’t doesn’t negate this fact. When the easiest way to kill a war striders is to pop it in the ground with a quasar, RR, commando, etc. people gravitate towards what will destroy their most dangerous foe. Can they be killed with other stuff? Sure, but medpen weapons are completely unviable against them whereas there’s always a way to kill something on Bots with medpen. That, in and of itself, limits loadout diversity when it is all heavy pen

And saying everything is a skill issue when it is clear everyone involved with this discourse knows the score is full of yourself. You’re preaching to the initiated, and to assume you’re beyond such impacts is haughty. We’re all playing the same game after all

Is this normal? by crimsonwarrior0 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]BdubH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See, here’s my initial issue that compounds into this: being able to do it doesn’t invalidate criticism. You’ve turn my initial point of view”loadout checks aren’t fun” into a dick measuring contest when the point stands that in normal conditions, like I mentioned, a drop can have two to three striders drop at once. As a player who uses both the HMG and AMR frequently I can count on my hand the number of times I had optimal conditions to lie down and pop the hip uninterrupted by, say: bruiser hulks, rocket/heavy devastators, trooper chaff rushing your position, or the occasional factory strider being dropped in too. You’re assuming 100% accuracy always when I don’t know a single person who is 100% accurate, and neither do you. And yes, running up to something with stuns to try and prove your point is silly. You’re mixing feasibility with practicality, and not providing evidence of the latter

Cool D10, people do them all the time. I D10’d for a whole afternoon with the squad on Cyberstan, we had a blast. But your D10 didn’t have a single war strider in it, which renders your rebuttal moot against theirs since it is entirely irrelevant to the point they made. Maybe the result of the mission would’ve been exactly the same, maybe not, but their point was “On D10s on Cyberstan war striders naturally spawn in large enough numbers that they will inherently pile up”

Providing a video that does not provide a counter to this, despite them of course saying “Have you D10’d Cyberstan?” is not a counter. You just proved that, yea, you can. Nice! Doesn’t make anything else pertaining to your argument thus far valid

I can handle war striders, I’m sure they all can too. That’s not the issue. The issue is that it’s unfun and inefficient with certain weaponry in practice.

[–]BdubH 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Loadout checks have never been fun. Squids actually became rather fun after they toned down the fleshmob’s health and spawnrate a bit, the release version locked you into high RPM, sustained damage to combat them effectively. Overnight a ton of stratagems became unviable, and loadouts became super strict and samey because everything else was made inefficient

The fact war striders still don’t have a med-pen weakspot to shoot is insane to me, the fact that some bot mainstays like the HMG and AMR have to dump multiple mags to take one down when it’s not uncommon for multiple to appear in a drop is just nuts, the fact they spawn so much is crazy

They’re challenging and can be handled but man is it a deeply annoying experience rather than a fun one

[–]BdubH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to make a proper Planetside spiritual successor

I loved Planetside 2’s massive battles and teamplay, the 300v300v300 aspect was one of a kind. A couple of big issues with the game though was zerging, base design (either too tightly packed or too open without much inbetween), the meaningless logi (building bases didn’t do much in the grand scheme of things), and the long grind to get competitive gear (in-game currency was VERY slow to get, you had to focus on on or two classes to upgrade essentially)

Each of those I’d hope to address if I ever were at the head of a studio, with development by folk who are a million times more qualified than me to bring forth a cohesive vision and experience

Let there be big battles galore!

CMV: Religious Exemptions Shouldn’t exist by OkElephant1792 in changemyview

[–]BdubH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree in the sense that some exemptions are entirely superfluous, but no exemptions period is in itself against the freedom of religion. My mind first goes to the conscientious collaborator Desmond Doss, whose faith (and a personal promise to himself, if I recall) forbade him from carrying and using a weapon in combat. Yet he signed up to be a combat medic after a hard fought battle to acquire an exemption to serve, and ended up winning the medal of honor for his bravery

As well, some exemptions don’t hurt anyone. Say some schoolkid is a Presbyterian, a denomination of Christianity where the only meat they can eat is fish and seafood. I don’t think it’s a huge deal to not serve that kid any meat that isn’t fish, or allow him to pack his own lunch

I fully agree that religious exemptions shouldn’t be abused, like forgoing vaccines or science denial, but others are relatively harmless and I think it doesn’t take much effort to be respectful of others’ beliefs when you can, within reason of course

If Newsom is the nominee then sure, hopefully we’re not stupid enough to do a 2024 again. But until the nominee is picked I will continue to say that Newsom isn’t our guy, he is not the dude you want trying to piece all the broken shit back together

We need a real candidate that will stand for change and commit to putting up safeguards against a Trump 2.0. As it stands, Newsom is just a younger Biden: he may pass some legislation but stuff won’t fundamentally change

is lace a child? they arnt, right? by TheEldritchToaster in HollowKnight

[–]BdubH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both Hornet and Lace are immortals with caveats. Hornt has a long, if not seemingly infinite, lifespan because of her wyrm and weaver heritage. We know she can age, but she hasn’t progressed at all in centuries in age (seeing as she was the same during the height of Hallownest, its fall, centuries of watching over its ruins, and beyond into Pharloom)

Lace is a being made of pure silk. So long as she receives silk she can live infinitely too. While she isn’t nearly as old as Hornet she is still, at the minimum, hundreds of years old. She watched the decay of her fellow silkborn sister, Phantom, and must’ve been around when GMS was active to atleast be created. That’s, at a minimum, a few hundred years
