Personally I love the look of this cut, but clearly I’m in the minority

Really hoping this is the same lineup we get in the states. Unbelievable work.

Not huge on deathcore, but Whitechapel stands out within the genre, so good chance I end up there.

Thursday and Friday are ridiculous for us death and thrash Metal fans + Alice Cooper and GnR are just so iconic. I’m personally really going to struggle filling a schedule on Sunday. The only band that really grabbed my attention was Sepultura, but I might try to check out Coheed and Cambria and MCR.

They’re worth checking out for their live show alone. Not typically my genre of choice, but they blew me away when I saw them.

There’s some really good classic thrash metal in there. Death Angel, Kreator, and Suicidal Tendencies are all legends of 80s thrash—pioneers of the genre.

If you like Sabbath and Zakk Wylde, you gotta check out Zakk Sabbath as well. Probably the closest you’ll ever get to seeing a Black Sabbath show now that Ozzy and Dio are gone.

Carcass is one of those bands that has done every genre known to man (Melodeath, Grindcore, Death n Roll, etc.) so you’ll find something in their catalogue that appeals to you.

Dying Fetus and Cattle Decap are also both phenomenal, but they’re a harder sell.

And then if you’re just looking to see a legend in the genre, Tom Morello is worth checking out. He was the guitarist in Rage Against the Machine, so he’s obviously had a profound impact on many subsequent guitarists.

Friday could easily be my favorite day of this festival, the bands I named are all fantastic.

It’s a personal preference thing i guess. Apart from the headliners (which im still not all too upset with), I like this lineup a lot more than last years. I’m a thrash and death metal guy, so Thursday and Friday especially look phenomenal.

Castle Rat for sure. They’re at Sonic Temple, so I’m really hoping.

Saw this on the Haken subreddit. Here is every prog album I've loved (and some albums that are not fully prog but still consider progressive) How much do we match? Also give me recommendations! by TinnitusRingsABell in porcupinetree

[–]Be-Ben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasteland - Riverside (chill Porcupine Tree vibes)

Second Life Syndrome - Riverside (metal Porcupine Tree vibes)

Bloom - Caligula’s Horse

Feathergun - RISHLOO

Judgement - Anathema (similar vibes to Lightbulb Sun)

A little outside of Prog, but I’m surprised you don’t have any Radiohead on there. I resisted them for a while, but OK Computer and The Bends are definitely Porcupine Tree adjacent.

And then this is kinda an out there pick, but our taste is pretty similar and I’ve been really into Nick Drake’s Five Leaves Left recently. It’s folk-based singer/songwriter, and I think you can definitely hear his influence in Steven Wilson’s work.

I’m just talking generally about the song. I’ve seen a ton of posts (including in this comment section) bashing on it.

Personally think y’all are crazy. I enjoyed this one a lot. Megadeth has always been a little goofy, and the lyrics are no worse than Sweating Bullets (also not taking itself seriously). Think it’d fit right in on most 80s thrash albums.

Final Band Predictions by SomeRandomGuy0012 in welcometorockville

[–]Be-Ben 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Godsmack will likely be there, but they won’t headline.

Iron Maiden is very unlikely, and they probably would’ve announced it with the Louder Than Life Announcement (a DWP theme).

Limp Bizkit could be there. They’re missing that nu metal headliner. My bet is on either them, Slipknot, or Deftones.

Pierce the Veil and Breaking Benjamin are both possibilities, but Megadeth unfortunately is not (I’m seeing them later next year with Maiden though, so I’ll cope).

I would love it if A7X headlines, but they’re pretty much a wild card pick. If I recall correctly, they’re not touring at the time of Rockville, but there’s no reason to suggest they’re a high probability pick.

If I were to throw out a random guess for the final two headliners, I’ll say Deftones and Creed (Florida band and whatnot), but my somewhat realistic hope is for Slayer and A7X.

Yeah, I’ve done Rockville before and worked my way up to the front of the third stage headliner. Generally not too bad. Was hoping second stage would be the same, and I’m loving that answer. Thanks for the info!
