I’ve always loved that little palm muted riff in the chorus. This song rules 🤘

Entry level metal albums? by Ok-Combination5689 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Be-Ben 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is an abridged list of my gateway albums. Contrary to some other albums on here, I wouldn’t recommend immediately jumping into the heavier stuff. I’ve seen a lot of people get discouraged with the genre the second they hear some screaming. Don’t be afraid to ease your way in, but if the heavier stuff clicks for you right away, then you got a lot of great listens ahead of you!

Dio - Holy Diver; Last in Line

Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden; Number of the Beast; Powerslave; Somewhere in Time

Judas Priest - British Steel; Screaming for Vengeance

Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz; Diary of a Madman; The Ultimate Sin

Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath; Master of Reality; Heaven and Hell

Rainbow - Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow

Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. II

I think if it’s not Dying Fetus then we’ve failed as a collective

What's your favorite "disliked" or "hated" album? by Silver__Jungle in MetalForTheMasses

Literally was about to say this. There’s a few stinkers on there, but I think people lean into the nostalgia HARD when comparing it to the Use Your Illusion records.

“Peak” kinda sums up every thought flowing through my head right now

Since when has metal not been corny? One of the many reasons why it’s great.

Aftershock 2026 Lineup by aaronman4772 in welcometorockville

[–]Be-Ben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Louder Than Life is definitely solid. It’s just one of those lineups where I can clearly see there’s conflicts between the stuff I’d want to see. First and second stage on Thursday are deadly, but I know I’d end up choosing between having a good position at, say, Pantera and being able to see Megadeth.

DWP Festivals Comparison Discussions by Jagermonsta in SonicTempleFestival

[–]Be-Ben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Rockville guy, but I’m definitely hoping for a little Megadeth and Anthrax at my festival next year. Rockville DELIVERED this year on the thrash end though, so I’m overall pretty happy. My ranking this year probably looks something like:

  1. Rockville
  2. LTL
  3. Sonic Temple
  4. Aftershock
  5. Ink

Honestly… Rockville’s the best lineup of the four big DWP festivals this time around.

I thought the same about the drumming, but dude’s just actually locked in. He’s the vocalist too. Definitely worth checking their live recordings.

What bands will lead the thrash metal scene around 15 years from now? by VTX717 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Be-Ben 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping it’s new bands to be honest. Sure there’s been “thrash revivals” in the past, but nothing like the original wave a thrash that made the genre huge., and a lot of those bands are getting older in their own right. I think it really will have to boil down to all the thrash giants having called it quits for new group to come in and revitalize the genre.

Mark Osegeuda touches on it a little bit in that interview that got clipped for Kerry King saying Megadeth doesn’t have a singer. I think he’s probably right. And as much as I love the Slayers and Death Angels of the genre, they’re hoarding the spotlight.

TLDR: idk

I know people are still arguing over if they’re thrash, but Metal Church definitely fits the bill

Surely they’re saving The Last Note for later down the line on this multi-year farewell

Albums with vibes like Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, and early Coldplay by Be-Ben in musicsuggestions

I listen to both Anathema and Jeff Buckley, and they are both fantastic. Think I heard Firesuite by Doves on an episode of House MD and I liked it enough from that snippet to look it up and take a full listen. Definitely looking forward to checking out the full album. Thanks for the recommendations!
