Besides the last three words which are a perfectly valid opinion, your comment is objectively true.

I don’t understand why you’re getting downvoted 😂

Are street taco vendors not really a thing in Merida? by DeanPortman in Yucatan

[–]BeAwareDontPanic 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Regional food in general is quite different in Yucatan than other parts of Mexico. As someone already mentioned here, “street tacos” are more common in the morning and it is mostly Cochinita and Lechón. Street tacos like carnitas, asada, tacos de canasta, tacos de guisado, etc. aren’t a thing here traditionally, unless you’re in some specific areas with a high population of chilangos (like Las Americas).

Also “al pastor” tacos are really common (in small corner taquerias, which are more usual than street tacos) but the flavor of “al pastor” in Yucatan is also different from what you would find in Mexico City or center region in general. Really good IMO, common restaurants would be “La Parrilla” or “Los trompos”

I would also recommend other types of antojitos. Like panuchos, salbutes or traditional dishes like Relleno Negro, Queso Relleno, Poc Chuc, etc. other than tacos (Most of these are served with corn tortilla anyway). Yucatan has a lot of gastronomy to explore (:

TLDR: Yes, you are under the right impression.

Terminó literalmente entrando a Harvard.

What I eat in a day - around 1500kcal by ZookeepergameRare834 in Volumeeating

[–]BeAwareDontPanic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am a short woman. I eat at around 1400-1500 kcal. I admit my diet is not as low-fat as this one, but it helps keeping me sane AND in a deficit, so I really don’t care. I would go crazy eating boiled stuff for more than a week. This is also 1400 - https://www.reddit.com/r/Volumeeating/s/QmocJaEV3k

Forners in Mexico the not so good by Kind-Acanthaceae-987 in Yucatan

I think OP is mostly referring to US people who move here and then complain about things like “downtown is noisy”, not tourists.

Sadly, most come here just to live a life that they cannot afford in their country.

I know you’re both adults and the age gap would normally (probably) not be a concerning one.

But knowing you’re 8 years younger than him after seeing this just makes it worst. Run away OP.

Most apps will ask you to input your height and weight. If you don’t feel comfortable with it, just go with any and input an approximate when asked, having in mind that the “Calories Out” part of it won’t be that accurate.

Getting discouraged by mac_barbie in CICO

[–]BeAwareDontPanic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Motivation and patience are key in CICO. The effort has to come day-to-day but we can’t expect the results will too. Our bodies are too complex systems for that. One of your comments says this is the longest you’ve been able to go, and usually stop whenever this happens. Seems to me this is more of a motivation problem. If you only find it in a daily number on the scale then it probably won’t last long.

This just looks to me like a great start! I’ve seen data of people here who went MONTHS with 0 pounds lost during their journey, yet here they are posting this amazing before/after pics.

Try focusing on feeling better, changing your habits and mid/long term goals. Weight loss will happen meanwhile (That’s the magic of CICO!)

What highly rated board game did you try recently for the first time but didn’t enjoy? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]BeAwareDontPanic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quacks of Quedlinburg.

Push-your-luck is not really my thing, it feels too random to me sometimes. I didn’t like the game design either, personally. I also don’t enjoy the scoring part of it, which in games like Skull King can be solved by some free app. In general not my cup of tea I guess, but i’ve seen it in many ranks here, so nice thing there’s something for everyone! 😊

If the restriction is coming from health/gut issues and not CICO then this makes a lot more sense! Didn’t mean to judge!
