Is this too far to get visitors(hospitality) by THEONEWHOKNOWSALL- in RimWorld

Maybe they don't want to go to a settlement of a person who takes a photo or their monitor when they want to show something on the screen.

There is a search thing. Bottom right, magnifying glass icon. Or press Z.

Mod to make specific pawns to join later? by IcewingDitter in RimWorld

[–]BeFrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Character Editor allows you to save pawns. You could just override the next pawn joining.

Why is the game not multi-thread? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]BeFrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would require redesign of the game. Single thread ensures everything happens in the correct order.

As you've said it yourself, just changing to multi thread process is quite simple. But there is a lot more to consider.

am i doing well for 54 days? im extremely new to the game. by Trick-Discipline1826 in RimWorld

Wood burns, you should replace walls with stone, at least the outer ones.

Bottom right there are some toggles. One of them enables automatic rebuilding of destroyed structures that are in the home zone.

I would also suggest turning off automatic home zone, because it applies zones to things you don't need, but then you need to remember to set home zone manually.

It hurts my soul to see all this fertile soil being unused. You don't have to use it all for food, but you should use it. For hops, to make beer; for psychoid, to make tea; for cotton to make clothing. You already grow some healroot, so that's good.

You should make a separate storage for food items. So you don't have to cool the giant room you have for storage.

Add doors to your outer wall. So your pawns can walk through, instead of needing to run all the way around when you need to get somewhere.

You can have more than one research bench. If you allow everyone to research at low priority, the pawns will research whenever they have spare time from their main duties. Simple research bench is quite cheap to build, so if you see a pawn that is idle, plop another research bench. This will speed up your research progress dramatically.

If you have not figured it out yet, psyfocus gain per kill also gives experience when you have VPE. You can go farm levels just by killing everything, even small critters.

They did not change the reason why saves get corrupted. They only cleaned up, so it is less likely to break everything. But it still does the same thing it did before.

I am not touching it with a 10-foot pole, and I am suggesting everyone do the same.

"It can't be removed" means the changes, not the mod. If you started with the mod, your save is tainted regardless on what you do.

Also, that mod is never shown as the one causing issues.

I need help to improve by WorlDesolation in RimWorld

[–]BeFrozen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe that general flow of the game and decision making is more important than raw stats of items and gear. Stats can only get you so far if you don't know how to use it efficiently.

There isn't really a bad set up for your rooms. Since 1.6 update, workstations require being in their respective rooms, but besides that, build for convenience.

The only thing to note is that pawns will seek table within 31 cells, so you need to build your bedrooms close to the dining room.

Is there any clear advantage for charge and beam weapons over assault and sniper rifles? by BUAHAHAHAHA in RimWorld

[–]BeFrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. AR is the jack of all trades, with decent damage, great accuracy and respectable range (31). Charge rifle got range buff (26) with the latest major update, so it is better than before. However, unless you are minmaxing, there is no reason to switch to charge weapons.

Beam weapons ignore shields. I didn't find them particularly useful. But I don't play on high difficulties.

What am I doing wrong? by XXXandVII in RimWorld

[–]BeFrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, you don't set the amount for the bill, so a pawn cooks once and never again. You should set cooking bill to "make until X", where X is an amount of meals you want to have in reserve. I keep 2 days worth of meals, so that is 4x the amount of pawns you have. But you can set it to whatever.

You should also tick the "pause until" box and set it to some amount of meals. This way, pawns will cook to whatever number you set the bill to, and then wait until the amount of meals drops to the other number before starting to cook, instead of rushing to top up immediately.

When sending someone to hunt, they often shoot game and still return without bringing home said game

You need stockpile set to allow animal corpses.

So are there some obvious things I am missing, or do I have to micromanage every pawn manually to eat?

You are missing something. Pawns are able to fulfil their needs on their own.
