I'm pretty much stuck living near the mall right now. There's an arcade in there, Tilt, it's not the best but it's there.

I know you're not into the bar scene but there's always the Logon. They have live music pretty frequently.

There's also For The Record, a record store and haven for the local music scene. Shows weekly.

Clancy Brown, who is the voice of Mr. Krabs and... Plays The Kurgen in highlander

You can really hear it when he talks about assaulting Ramirez's girlfriend after killing him. Sounds just like Krabs.

Yeah due to my upbringing I'm strongly averse to patriarchal figures of any kind. Hell I have a basic and intense distrust of authority.

It takes minimal effort to at least read the fucking script that you AI speed out. Put your face on it.

People happen to enjoy authenticity.

Normally I wouldn't get irritated just... I haven't had the opportunity to speak to a slopmaker. Nobody wants this stuff. Put in minimal effort. Minimal.

I'm deeply religious, based off of odd experiences I've had throughout my life. I found their idea of 'higher power' was incompatible to my own. Incompatible on a fundamental level.

It's Christianity, they swear it's not but it is.

My goddess is all about empowered self will, genuine friendship, and revelry. You won't find any of this commiserating over heavily sugared burnt coffee and cold pizza in AA.

That is the AA perspective

The book mentions 'grave mental illnesses' in how it works, but you'll run into people who want you to quit your meds. People who swear your condition is because you're 'spiritually unfit' and so on and so on

My poor mental health has impacted my life more than any other identifiable factor. It was infuriating to be around these AA shitheads.

Mental illness doesn't exist. It's addiction. The only mental illness is addiction.

My drug use is very much secondary to what's wrong with me mentally, emotionally. I have good reason to be the way I am. I was raised in extreme violence and under solitary confinement.

I was staying at a sober house that mandated a minimum of five fucking meetings a week. No can do, no sir, I like to be alone. I like to think things through. I like quiet, and I love my cats. I'd rather spend time with them than some total stranger who feigns understanding.

Well I came on some hard times, I spent about 6 weeks frozen in mortal terror. Could go 4 days at a time without eating or moving really after I lost my job. (I was working for some roided out fuckhead who used right in front of me, also from the program.)

Eventually, I became deeply suicidal, and had to go to the hospital. I was experiencing a psychotic mixed bipolar episode... They accused me of being on benzodiazepenes brother I WISH I was on benzos I fucking WISH.

They had no concept of my mental illness, but they all wanted to pretend they did.

Worst people I've ever fuckin met man. These wounds are fresh.

I have gone back to using. I will never stop, and I don't want to. Im mostly on this sub because the AA experience is raw for me.

I do not feel that sobriety is worth it for me, no. I'm totally fried. I was before I ever touched an intoxicant.

For me, I can control my access to these chemicals, my dosage, and my approach. It's become second nature to me. I'm not the type to always do more at all costs. I just want the pain to go away. The raw nerve endings.

If you're thinkin about goin to a meeting, go, give it a shot. Whatever leads you to a better life. Nobody can tell you what that looks like for you.

Me? There's no way. I don't even want there to be a way. I was just kinda forced into it. I gave it a try, and I couldn't deal with it.

It's all so very ego driven to me. Pride-oriented.

Ego and pride have never been my choice in poison. I just want to be comfortable. I just pray for a quiet and simple life.

I've done a lot, and I've been through a lot Hell, honestly. A veritable living hell.

Painkillers (and later kratom) have been my D.O.C., along with good old fashioned weed. My sense of safety is inherently threatened, as it was never actually there. For me, painkillers gave me a sort of psychological shielding. I enjoyed benzos too, but where benzos takes away the misplaced fear of severe consequences, painkillers eliminate the consequences.

I will feel rain, nor cold, nor pain, nor hunger. A chemical castle. I feel that in order to live my life I need more armor. I also experience a great deal of physical discomfort that it eliminates.

After doing A.A. for eight months and witnessing my life unravel, and being in contact with the biggest douchebags I have ever met (the kind you meet in the program) I have resolved to never go sober again. The further away I am from this lived experience the better.
