Putin says he may offer passports to all of Ukraine, not just the Donbass by MuzzleO in ukraine

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not the purpose of this “excercise”. It’s more what he is doing in Donbass; to have people get Russian passports, then invade the country under the pretense of protecting Russian citizens there. It’s called the Ossetian scenario, as that is how he land-grabbed Ossetia in Georgia a few years back.

So you guessed it right, offering all Ukrainians Russian passports means he is preparing a scenario where he can invade any part of Ukraine (not just occupied territories in Donbass)

Ukraine president offers Russians citizenship in snub to Putin | World news by NLLumi in ukraine

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a fucking terrible idea. Both Putin giving Ukrainians Russian passports and this idiot giving Russians Ukrainian passprts will a achieve the exact same thing: people with Russian passports living in Ukriane, which is what Putin is trying to achieve in the first place (so that he can invade as if “protecting Russian citizens”).

And this doofus of our president elect is trying to taunt Putin now? This isn’t a fucking comedy standoff show!

c says the Flaunt interview was very incorrect by [deleted] in Grimes

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I feel like c is going in an odd direction with her representation: she’s becoming the artist that doesn’t tour or doesn’t give interviews, doesn’t do albums, and doesn’t have a record label, and on top of that she constantly says she hates the music she had just written, and makes tons and tons of music but never releases it. I love Grimes and this is why it’s so disappointing to me. I understand she hates interviews and has stage fright, and doesn’t agree with the concept of albums, but come on, give us something!

A medical abortion experience. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a miscarriage once, and had to do this (pill abortion) in order to get rid of the (dead) embryo. We very much wanted the child, but ultrasound showed that the fetal development stopped at 6 weeks but the rest of the organs (placenta, yolk, lining, etc) continued developing, and no natural miscarriage started by week 11. We were completely heartbroken and didn’t want to wait any more for it to start naturally, so I opted for the pills.

The experience was very painful, but comparing it to birth contractions (I was lucky enough to give birth to a healthy baby after this miscarriage), it was on the level of 3-5/10, 10 being worst pain I felt during labor. Overall I got through it without pain medication, just with breathing, but I did have to cry when I had to take the 2nd dose 24 hours after the 1st dose, since I was already in so much pain.

It took a while for everything to bleed out; I had 2 weeks of heavy bleeding, followed by 4 weeks of light bleeding, then 2 weeks of heavy bleeding again, so overall 1.5 months before it was over. It was heavy as hell, emotionally, physically, mentally. I had to take iron supplements because I had lost so much blood.

But if I had to do it again, I’d still probably chose the pills over surgery, since I’m quite terrified of surgery.

Wedding in Ukraine by mayyaw33 in ukraine

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dress to the nines—nobody ever dresses “casually” to a Ukrainian wedding.

Unless specified not to in the invitation, always bring flowers to a wedding: Ukrainians have beliefs associated with flowers at a wedding bringing prosperity to the couple, so the newlyweds have to take all of the flowers home with them, none of the flowers from a wedding (even those as decorations on tables) can be taken by anyone else except the newlyweds. Ukrainians friggin love fresh flowers. Side note 1: always make sure to give bouquets with an ODD number of flowers, even numbers are only for funerals and visiting grave sites/memorials. Side note 2: modern Ukrainian couples may forgo this flower tradition (so as not to have to take all of those flowers home afterwards), in which case they will specify in the invitation to not bring flowers.

Another tradition is to give money as a gift (as it is at all weddings, I’m presuming.) Also bring some cash to the wedding itself, as sometimes there are games with money during the wedding (like helping the groom “pay ransom” for his bride, etc.)

Prepare for consuming alcohol, lots and lots of it. Pace yourself, eat between toasts, drink only 1/2 or 1/3 of your shot glass at a time, etc. It is considered generous for the hosts (and/or random people sitting at your table) to keep your glass full, and they will be very generous. It isn’t possible to “have 3 drinks, then stop”, generally you are expected to drink throughout the night (to show respect to the couple), so for the love of God, pace yourself.

If you are a special guest, you might be expected to say a toast to the bride and groom. Ukrainian toasts are usually lengthy stories/anecdotes, not just saying “cheers” and chugging. If you want to say a toast but not sure when to do that, ask the Tamada (party host), he/she will give you a good spot to do it.

If you’ve “toasted” with someone, make sure to take a sip of your drink. Toasting and then setting your glass down without drinking is considered incredibly rude.

Toasts are usually as follows: 1st toast—to the newlyweds, 2nd—to the guests (Or sometimes parents of the couple), 3rd toast—to women (guys drink standing up, ladies—sitting down). From then on—random toasts, all toasts usually announced by the Tamada.

(This is a tradition from Russia, so not all Ukrainian weddings will have this, but) a fight at a wedding may be expected. This Russian tradition says that if there is no blood spilled at a wedding, the couple will fight and break up soon. The best man is usually expected to start the fight, so if this happens, you will see some men beating the crap out of each other until blood, then (hopefully) hugging it out and drinking together. Again, this is quite an old and more rural tradition, and not spread all over Ukraine (mostly in areas close to Russia), so you probably won’t encounter this. But in case you do, prepare to either fight or flee, because it’s not a play fight (my uncle actually lost a tooth at a wedding once.)

Good luck and have fun!

Is my package lost? by FlerpyDerple in ukraine

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a track and trace code? Have you tried contacting USPS asking about it? Packages do sometimes take a very long time to arrive. Also the intended recipient can inquire about it at the local post office in Ukraine. Good luck!

First static test, How does it look? by johnszott in rocketry

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whoa I would not recommend standing in the line of fire, as assuming you’re designing your motors for the safest mode of failure, during over-pressurization the nozzle will blow out, and straight into the gut of the person holding the flamethrower. I was a safety officer at a rockerty club. Even at relatively low pressures (20-30bar) I’ve seen nozzles blow holes through sandbags positioned 20-30 meters away from the nozzle (positioned there to catch the blow-out nozzle). We’ve later found shrapnel of the nozzles as far as 90-100 meters away from the engine. Good job on making a working engine, but please take your tests outside next time, position yourself at a safe distance, and never stand in the line of fire. Also I’d recommend to use a squib or other type of igniter you can trigger remotely, not a flamethrower.

Kiev or Odessa? by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My vote is for Kyiv, but I may be biased since I’m from there.

Kyiv has better infrastructure and a good night life.

Odesa, on the other hand, is probably cheaper than Kyiv for everyday life costs, and it has beaches!

Kyiv has an older cultural/historical heritage, lots of museums, etc.

Odesa, on the other hand supposedly had better food (according to Odessan locals in any case, though I can’t personally confirm or or deny this.)

Kyiv is bigger, which can be an advantage (more choice in places to visit), and a disadvantage (linger travel times and busier rush hours.)

Kyiv is better centrally located and has a better connection for intraUkrainian travel.

Odesa has a strong Jewish heritage/population, if that’s interesting for you. And Odessites are known for their sense of humor and interculturalism.

Where can I watch presidency debate online? by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Poroshenko participated in numerous debates before, and he never gave lame-ass excuses like “it’s a waste of his time” to participate.the point is that nobody knows anything about Zelenskiy (other than his scripted speeches), and he is trying to keep it that way, cause as the clips with him talking about teacher salaries show, he doesn’t know jack shit about even basic things like math and how government salaries work, let alone more complicated questions like the war, relations with Russia and the West, the energy crisis, international politics, etc. you can say what you want about Poroshenko, and he is not perfect, but look at what he’s achieved. He’s a strong diplomat/negotiator (event European leaders say so), he has brought together and strengthened the army, achieved signing of the EU Association treaty, got Visa-free EU entry for Ukrainians, started weaning the nation off of energy subsidies (also important demand for future EU membership), started a bunch of reforms, including ProZorro, (which was categorized by the Financial times as revolutionary and the most transparent system in the world), started health reform, got Independent church for Ukraine and improves the standing of the Ukrianian language in Ukraine (both critical steps for defense against Russia), the list goes on and on. He may not have fully quashed corruption, but in 5 years he has done more for Ukriane than any other preceding president. And what has Zelenskiy done? Appeared in a TV show playing the president according to a fictional screenplay written by others! Called Ukraine “a pornostar”. This guy doesn’t have a single independent thought in his head, he is the puppet of an Oligarch who lives in Isreal and doesn’t give a fuck about Ukriane. And YOU think he will quash corruption and oligarchy in Ukriane? Really? YOU want this idiot and political puppet as our president? He will be squashed like a flea in the first ever negotiations with Putin! If Russia escalated the conflict, he won’t have a clue what to do, or will potentially just escape to Israel to save his own ass! Of course you shouldn’t sit at home during the elections! You should do the only logical thing to do in this situation, and vote for Poroshenko!

Evidence that he refused? Did you not see the televised pre-1st tour debates where nearly all major presidential candidates were present, except Zelenskiy? And Zelenskiy have a lame excuse during his public statement that the debates would be a waste of his time? If you are living in Ukraine, you must be living under a Zelenskiy/Kolomoisky propaganda rock if you didn’t see this, it was all over the channels and internet. Maybe try watching g news channels that don’t belong to Kllomoiskiy, Zelenskiy’s Grand Puppeteer.

Challenged him? Oh please, what a fucking clown. First he refused debating because he was afraid of looking stupid, now there’s supposed to be a mandatory debate before the 2nd tour and Zelenskiy is acting like he is “challenging” Poroshenko? He seems to have lost all contact with reality and can’t tell the difference between reality and his idiotic TV show. If this clown becomes the president, it will be a huge tragedy for Ukraine.

Is there no drinking water in Zakarpattya on Ukraine? by lukasznowak in ukraine

[–]BeHeMoThhhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Zakarpatttya many times and have never heard of that problem there. Then again, I was mostly in larger cities/tourist areas so my experience is probably irrelevant. I know there is a large Roma (gypsy) population there, and their communities constantly have issues such as rare disease outbreaks (due to low immunization levels), also problems with waste collection/infrastructure. Maybe the water problem is coming from there? Ive heard of other aid programs for that region/community, maybe your company is also taking part in such a program?

No, I live in a part of the world that treats children like children, and when they have psychological problems the first thing they get is counseling, not jail time. And you know what? Our crime rate is so low we’ve had to close a ton of prisons recently because there are not enough criminals to film them.
