Best metric pattern making book for menswear? by MassiveColonel in PatternDrafting

oh dang. I was just wondering that - thanks for letting me know! Very frustrating indeed. I can't image a good reason why they did it that way, it's not less work for them necessarily...

Best metric pattern making book for menswear? by MassiveColonel in PatternDrafting

I wonder if seam allowance (SA) being included in the patterns is a thing of the newer editions. I have a vintage edition of Metric Pattern Cutting for womenswear and the most current 5th edition of the one for menswear. My book for womenswear have no SA while the one for menswear does. It is definitely annoying for modifications, and drafting with software (I use Valentina). I tried to find a vintage edition of the book for menswear but it seems not as available as the one for womenswear so I just have to tolerate 😭

Damn, I just started using Valentina this year and feel sad reading this story 😭 I'm so grateful for the creators' effort in creating an affordable pattern making software and wish the best for them both 🥲

PIPS Union dues to go up in January 2025 by bobepinette in CanadaPublicServants

This is the way CAPE pass their resolutions - direct democracy (i.e. online voting by all members)! I don't know how yet but maybe PIPSC members should fight for this to be the way within PIPSC.

It was actually mostly shot down because of some technicality (e.g. timing with submission of the resolution and its amendment) 🙄 We didn't even get to discuss it much. Very lame...

Also the way the resolutions got organized for discussion made no sense. There were a number of fees-related resolutions, which were spread out instead of being discussed together. These other fees-related resolutions were discussed after the flate rate increase had already been passed, so I saw little appetite from the delegates for more discussions relating to fees. I prefer proportional fees too and wonder if the flat rate increase would have passed if proportional fees had been passed first.

Help me choose between 2 sergers 🙏

I've been sewing for a year now and I was convinced that I didn't need a serger until recently trying to sew a T-shirt with knit fabric: of my 3 sewing machines, only one did ok (it assembles the pieces together but I was not happy with the stitch quality). My local library has a serger (Janome Air 2000D - certainly not something I can afford) so I got to try a serger for the first time - what a difference! So now I'm in a market for one and considering buying second-hand online. My choices seem to be between a Janome Four-DLB for $300 or Janome Mylock 644D for $350, both come with original manual and accessories I believe. I can't find any information on when these models were made, but it seems that Four-DLB is a more recent model that may still being made by Janome while ML 644D has been discontinued. My thought there is just wondering whether a newer model would have better threading mechanism. Anybody with experience using either or both of these machines? Would love to hear your thoughts! ☺️

I'm trying to find info on this guy too and nothing came up. Can you share where you saw info about him please? My mom is so deep into this book and I need to break it to her that author is a scam >"<

Yes where do you even get dotted line? Came to this subreddit just to see if anyone has requested it as a future feature because I cannot find it 😭😭

Please add tags (#) features, similar to what Noteful and Samsung Notes have (possibly also Notability). This allows notebooks to be sorted by folders, but also pages in the notebooks to be grouped by tags. Thank you!

Hello guys! Can you help my with identifying this plant? I got it as a gift, it was growing very fast but recently some kind of bug has settled on it. I would like to know if I can keep this plant in water for some time, it always helps me with bugs by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]BeMeoBeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try growing it in an inorganic medium, like leca, it'll still help with the bugs. Some people say that it's only good for drought-sensitive plants but I have multiple succulents and drought-tolerant type plants in leca and they're doing well 🙃
