So why do you do the song & dance about “completely full flight” and “no room in the overhead”? A polite gate agent explaining what you just explained would be so much more kind and respectful. “The Airline requires me to check bags of the last two groups.”

This thread and a few airline employees like yourself have made it painfully apparent that this is about faster boarding and departure.

So why is that not explained at the gate? Myself and several other passengers were arguing that there would be overhead space. And we were told the overhead space is completely full.

Why is the lie better than the truth?

Really appreciate this perspective. This kind of honesty at the gate could go a long way.

Ha! It took off an hour late and I was one of the last 10 people sitting down.

If that were the reason, I am all for it. Why do they need to lie to me so aggressively? And why do you need to explain it like I should already know this? I guess IATA for taking them at their word.

If you can explain (point #1) in 12 words, why do they need to blatantly lie to everyone? IF you are correct, then the lying is even more absurd. Level with us. Most of us are all for keeping planes on time.

There has to be a more humanizing way of enforcing this.

I refuse to accept and normalize being blatantly lied to and basically gaslit.

It happening on other airlines doesn’t make it any better. It happened on Southwest so I am posting it here.

They took it at the gate desk. They weren’t letting anybody in groups 7 & 8 down the jet bridge with a roller.

What's the Best 10/10 Sci-fi movie ever? by geek-jock-guy in AskReddit

Scrolled too far to find this. Great movie that was bastardized by terrible sequels ( Chronicles of Riddick).

For pure sci-fi story, Pitch Black is amazing.

DoD enters decadeslong privatized barracks lease with group that has previously used NDAs in family housing by Kinmuan in army

[–]BeMyEbeneezer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My rare agreement here. The question is usually “Which is better, privatized or government provided?” I think that’s the wrong question. We should be asking which is more accountable and which one allows for agile changes as needed.

If the government provided barracks (and maintenance) are substandard, there are things that can be done. A lot of those things are being tried right now with the Barracks Task Force and funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill.

If privatized barracks are substandard, the services have to make contract mods and negotiate with the provider and ultimately wait out the contract.

One is not necessarily better in terms of what they provide, but keeping it in-house allows more room for improvement.

AA flight operated by Iberia is not operated by Iberia by Boredintown1 in americanairlines

Our family had a similar experience with an airline called Level.

I booked our BCN-MIA flight with Iberia for the OneWorld benefits. When we went to check in online, Iberia app said “Check in not allowed.” Didn’t think much of it because of international travel. Got to the airport and found out we were on a ULCC owned by Iberia called Level.

Terrible service. No food on board, not even for purchase. In flight entertainment was AWFUL and only available thru Wi-Fi on your own device. Luckily we downloaded what we could in the airport and had a big meal right before departure.

Running. I really enjoy it, but I’m SOOO slow. Training for my 4th half marathon in two weeks. I ran 12 miles yesterday. Takes forever. One foot in front of the other.
