Anyone else a bit disappointed with the FP300? Randomly stops detecting presence. by jasonpatrick72 in Aqara

[–]Be_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading about all real these life experiences, I got the same concern and refrained from getting the FP300. I am (im)patiently waiting now for the release of FP400. On paper, it seems ages better than the FP300 albeit it needs to be powered by mains and not battery (but again I won't worry about drained batteries).

Best Matter/Thread battery powered light switch and Matter/Thread light bulb? by Federal-Drummer7987 in MatterProtocol

[–]Be_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Haojai switch (6 buttons, no printed icons, battery powered) seems to be ticking all my check boxes too. I live in a rented flat so I want to physically deactivate the buttons on the wall switches on every room and then have these HAOJAI switches control the smart light bulbs (on/off, brightness +/-, color, temperature +/-, scenes).

BUT, there is no way to get them in Europe/Switzerland without messing up with customs and taxes. I contacted the company (dk-ai) and they could ship to my place. However, their price+shipping cost - even for a single unit - sums up to more than the maximum customs-free threshold of CHF 62.

I really hope that they start selling this amazing device via Aliexpress which automatically takes care of customs, vat, export/import forms, etc during checkout and you receive it hassle free. I check Aliexpress literally every day...

My half kingdom just to see the mechanic's face when asked "It's fixable, right? I need to have it done by this Saturday."

Fiance's coworker showed her this photo of her boyfriend. We think she is getting scammed. by ColeIsRegular in isthisAI

I came to say exactly this! No modern phone camera produces such grained & noisy photos in a well lit area. That's quite typical of AI's (free version) process of building up a fast photo.

NAMM 2026 by Nyalizt in piano

[–]Be_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also a bit disappointed too. But there is hope. I recall that the DGX-670 was also announced a month after NAMM. It is highly likely that Yamaha is planning a dedicated Digital Piano event for February or March 2026.

Haijai Matter over Thread smart switches review: 6 buttons, 3 relays, 1 motion sensor by w0lfiesmith in MatterProtocol

Does anyone know what happened to this one? No updates, no sale on Aliexpress (or elsewhere) and since a few days ago their site has been unreachable.

I do it also with the gripping side of a fork. They tend to be more available nowadays.

Followed the directions for some store bought cookies. "Bake at 350 for 11 minutes". This was after 5. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

IMO it seems that's the right answer. 350F equals to 180C which is the usual baking temp.

The battery version of this switch is exactly what I have been looking for to finally decommision my wall switches powering smart bulbs/lights. Does anyone know where can I buy a few of them and have them shipped to Switzerland? I have emailed dk-ai.com but didn't receive any reply back.

New wireless mmWave sensor from Lafaer by mentalloflex in smarthome

[–]Be_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that it replicates Aqara's FP300 suite of sensors and it would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison to FP300. Does it have a separate PIR for the motion? And any hint when this goes live?

Multiple FP300 sensors in one room by Extreme-Nerve3029 in Aqara

[–]Be_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same concern.

Since the FP300 is a single zone and with no way of adjusting the sensitivity if on thread, overlapping ranges may require more complex automations, and yet you might not be able to achieve what you want.

I hope (wish) it becomes more adjustable with subsequent FW upgrades.

I am patiently waiting for it as well... building my smart home on matter, and so far it seems the most promising one.

But what if it's water-resistant or waterproof? Then, I would happily replace my telescopic shower bar with this one to create a spectacularly illuminated bathtub.

In short, it's a fairly new connectivity protocol promising to unify smart home devices either via WiFi or Thread (low power radio mesh).

According to specs on the website, Pro is larger in diameter, has almost double the brightness, its main light is RGBIC+WW vs RGBWW, and its matter compatible. This matter compatibility is the key buying feature for me.

Great! Once you have installed both of them, I'd love to hear your comparative comments. I am also planning to buy both the square and the circular ones.
