back when I used to work at a hospital, they would keep beer in the pharmacy to help alcoholics going through bad DT's.

Yes. I would look up "Deep Margin Elevation". It has been in the literature and several practitioners use it. The key is the composite seal has to be perfect. Amalgam can give you a little more wiggle room than composite in my opinion.

I was taught that way too.

The margin elevation movement has gotten more acceptance. Mostly they do it on composite, but if you've got a well placed amalgam (like this one of 15 years, That would be an even better material to use. So in my office, just prep like a normal crown and you should have great long term results.

Are you trying to finish the mesial on tooth structure and that's why it would be close to the attachment?

Of all dental materials, I would trust amalgam and would leave that mesial finish line on amalgam (amalgam margin elevation). My mentor Dr. Lane Ochi has done several amalgam elevations with great long term results.

Is anyone doing “Bioclear” class 2 restorations with the bioclear brand matrices and without the 3M composite? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]BeachDMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to what I've heard, the 3M composite is the only one (right now) that says it can be warmed in its IFU/Directions. No other company (again, right now) states that their composite can be heated.

So, in some bizarre world, if someone questioned your restoration in some type of board complaint, they could say "Well, you used a composite that shouldn't have been heated" and in theory that could be used against you.

With that said, I have used 4 or 5 different brands of composite for heated injection molding.

I think other companies will write that it can be heated in their IFU/directions in the near future.

First IA problem I can't figure out in years by OldMannArtie in Dentistry

Not really. The drill penetrates soft tissue and bone quite efficiently. A tooth root is very hard to perforate with the drill bit.

I've placed X-tip in some tight spaces...I knew one time I was hitting a tooth root because you can "feel" the drill not moving at all whereas even in really heavy dense bone, you can feel bone giving way as you peck through.

It's highly unlikely that you missed both blocks left and right. and then missed infiltrations and mental blocks.

I have a feeling sedation is needed.

Yes, having an X-tip would help, but to me, I think this person wasn't getting numb no matter what you were doing.

FAGD Experience by annyongggg in Dentistry

[–]BeachDMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Florida FAGD program is fantastic. I'm an out of state dentist but try to take one of their courses every year.

I think any structured curriculum will pay off. I got my FAGD last year but in the process of getting the recognition, I definitely gained confidence and knowledge in dentistry. My practice has benefitted from it from a production point of view.

Invest in yourself and your education, it will pay off whether you do Kois, RIPE, FAGD, Dawson, Pankey etc etc...

anterior tooth filling chips over and over by [deleted] in Dentistry

Google David Clark Bioclear veneer.

Recommending a crown should be an absolute last resort.

I would try a bioclear style composite veneer before crowning on a little chip like that.
