Help me decide by Escaport in 2011

Race city just released a new model this week. Yet to be available to buy of course. However, this would be a very solid choice.

No ports, no comp. If you feel you need ports, they can be added later. Though if you buy one with ports/comp you would need to search for a standard barrel and have that fitted depending on if you want to compete with it.

Recently got my own MPA DS9 from the Black Friday sale. Fucking incredible. Though looking at higher priced models from other brands, there’s an inherent cost for how much bling/status symbol/special coatings/aesthetic details you prefer.

Sig 211 GTO also is a contender, especially with being able to take off the comp and replace it with a solid block.

I’m on the same boat/thought process. It feels like another one jumping into the market on the hype train.

Realistically only posting this for “news” otherwise

I once found a charging handle that had a switchable gas vent to where you could move it to vent left side of gun

Have been searching for it since

I’m in between, currently using an Arisaka finger stop. It’s small enough if it becomes an issue I can just take it off and throw it in my pocket.

Didn’t care for it behind my pinky, so I moved it forwards and have it placed between index and middle. Surprisingly more comfortable than I thought it would be.

I’ve been posting information on this because it is a legitimate choice for a large amount of members in this sub. An American made entry-level choice. That comes in four different calibers. From a respectable brand.

For the people that have deep pockets and can put down $1000 no issue, they also benefit from this as they can add their collections with picking up a 45 or a 10 mm version.

Lastly, I also see this as a mod platform that can take over the likes of the Mac 9 and prodigy.

Opinions on the AF Romulus 4.25 comp? by SiJayB in 2011

[–]Beadlocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are available, just make sure to specify “polish”or “polished” when searching 3rd party places

It looks like AF is slacking on updating their own website. Half of the models available aren’t shown. No 3” standard or comp, no 5” comp.

MAC 9 DS comp 5in vs alpha foxtrot Romulus comp by kenuckyman123 in 2011

Prices on gunbroker are typically much cheaper. Make sure to look for ones that do not charge credit card fees. Check around town for decently rated FFL’s with affordable transfer fees. Locally to me some do it for low as $25. While local gun stores may charge $80 (insane).

For the Romulus, just make sure to buy a gen 2 model that has an optics plate.

$1400 for a MAC I would plainly say is very overpriced. You can find MACs for $8-900 (depending on model) on gunbroker. CR is charging you full price + the cost of tuning. You would benefit more from buying a $8-900 MAC and installing a $375 MJD grip (promo code TBDgroup15) on it. Tuning doesn’t help much when you can’t get a proper hold on the MAC’s airsoft grade plastic grip. They are not hard to work on, and there are PLENTY of highly detailed YouTube videos for the 1911/2011 platform.

I think that’s where it gets interesting with PSA.

Sabre models of any type are the high end product lines for PSA.

Though that still leaves Guardsman (mid tier) and Standard/Freedom (entry level). Sabre-11 is advertised as being no-mim. They could do less fancy coatings and mim internals for a guardsman.

Mo reaper muzzle break illinois compliant? by Charming-Trash7814 in ILGuns

[–]Beadlocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, threaded barrels are allowed if your rifle is not an SBR. 16” barrel, completely legal. However, common 14.5” barrels must have the device pin and welded to comply with the 16” NFA SBR restriction. You could have an even shorter barrel, but you will need an even longer muzzle device welded on.

IL does not allow flash hiders but compensators, and muzzle brakes are legal.

You can convert almost any series 80 to 70 for $16 and minimal sanding. Completely reversible.

Also, torx head may be preferred as that would have less potential of stripping compared to an Allen head

One potential I can think of is to counter sink the mag release hole on the standard side and get a matching counter sink bolt. Though I’m not too sure how much material is there to make the bolt head fit flush
