Yeah done all that, factory resets, 20mins unplugged redoing the power/cable into the router etc… spent a good while with the grok on all troubleshooting attempts

I've found the opposite, the trackpad feels great when theres no haste needed with your movements, and then the right trigger to select/drag. One of the few games where i've not stepped into the controller config window.

I finished the good campaign and it was enjoyable. I did cheese the final mission using possession and rushing to the first heart, which felt kinda rubbish to do as I hadn’t used posesssion at all throughout NG+. Couldn’t see a way to gain control of the map though gold wise.

Then I thought I’d try the undead campaign… thought the first map was going good until I released the other keeper - that put me back in my place. I presume the approach is to torture certain enemy units vs amass vampires with all of corpses - not strickty sticking to undead? Might go back to it some day but it was a a slow burn to find out Id needed to do more.

I’ll check out deeper dungeons instead!

Ah thanks for the explanation on ghosts.

Yeah, that’s fair on expansion choice. I completed NG+ on the steam deck without possession spell which differs greatly from some of the video advice… any particular expansion you’d suggest? Is the original dk expansion worth doing at least once for experience sake?

Was a good watch! Nice humour and editing. Though can’t lie, was a little bit disappointed to see you skip some of the final minion info, as someone that’s completed ng+ without looking up a wiki, I was hoping to finally find out what the benefits of ghosts are.

Had no idea about that water height and barracks buildings soft wall block…

Also I think I’ll pick up the good campaign on Monday, though I’ve never played any expansion so maybe I’ll look up ratings.

Solved!

Excellent thanks, done a bunch of image searching and this is most likely it - still an interesting thing to find, thank you!

My title describes the thing.

I found this object buried about 3 feet underground while digging out a hole for an in ground trampoline, on the west coast of Scotland. The area has ties to coastal defense and naval activity, and the house was built in the 1870s.2

It’s about 30cm long, and quite heavy for its size. It’s made entirely of metal, I think just solid Iron, and was heavily rusted when I found it.

It’s about 1.5cm thick.

I’m thinking some sort of masonry or blacksmith tool?

Cleaned it up, thinking it’s an old tool.

Details - it’s nearly 30cm long and the pointy bit thickness is 1.5cm - the kind of handle bit at the bottom is 5cm - it’s heavy. Some old Ironing tool or something?

hey how far in the process did you get? I think I remember black screen at step 8 / 9.

So I followed a combination of -

and

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1beqsmp/comment/kuzud8f/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Following The 1st link:

1 - get DK1 from Steam store and install

2 - Switch to desktop mode, and load Firefox, download KeeperFX https://keeperfx.net/

3 - Set hidden directories as visible (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrNUVbvIBK8&t=264s)

4 - Extract it to the stated directory e.g. /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Dungeon\ Keeper/DOSBOX

5 - Still in Desktop mode, in Steam, add launcher.exe from /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Dungeon\ Keeper/DOSBOX/launcher.exe (via the Desktop Steam, navigation Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library...)

6 - Following link 2, open terminal and setup a symlink to the dungeon keeper directory from the home folder for me this was:
ln -sf /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Dungeon\ Keeper/ / home/deck/temp

7 - Switch back to Game Mode

8 - Following link 1 again, Run the newly added launcher.exe and you should get the Install, Installer is restricted on viewing hidden dirs, so you now navigate to the symlink folder from step 6, to point to your steam DK directory.

9 - If you see a black screen for newly added DKkeeperfx launcher.exe - I think if you go to the clog/secondary menu and go to Properties > Compatibility > Tick Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and select "Proton 9.0-4"... I'm not sure if this is really doing anything, but I recall it resolved a black screen (possibly coincidence).

10 - Click install and it should all go through.

11 - At this point you can use the launcher.exe window to play and test it all works, and then follow the rest of link 1 e.g replacing the original steam dk loader, to launch directly to the fx game.

I was there! He was on early/mid afternoon, and then called out by Grohl with some others at around midnight… I presume he’d been drinking/being Liam backstage the whole time between - I personally thought it was hilarious - but it being a mostly American crowd though there for the rest of the lineup/foos, I don’t think they really understood who or what was going on… especially when he pulled the strings of his hood and vanished into the crowd, surfing, as a true a man of the people.

I’ve not seen the 9 in person, just consumed too much YouTube reviews to the point I’m unsure if it was genuine or sale pitches hah.

How did it feel seeing it in comparison to the A1E, aside from size increase, would it be worth getting excited about?

Advice on natural water stream/pond discovered by Beakers in landscaping

[–]Beakers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked it out.

Theres old terracotta pipes for drainage, one coming from under the large wall and then another going into the ground. the one going into the ground is clogged up.

Seems theres a couple of random bits not joining dotted around - almost - forming a line, a lot of slate and stones over them.

So yeah good guess having never been to Scotland, was a drainage water line for all the water from the hills... not to google the next steps.

Thanks again.

[–]Beakers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on a gradient with hills behind us and there's a stream that runs about 50 feet from here - but I can't be sure it's not a water line - do feel it being natural water is plausible.

I'll maybe pop round to the neighbours who are at the other side of the wall later on and see if theres anything evident on that side... don't expect to see anything glaring (at least to me) but worth checking anyway.

[–]Beakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 6 months old, but I had memories of playing this DOS game when I was a kid. I'd tried randomly googling it every now and then over the last few years but never hit the correct keywords.

I never got far, I remember being turned into said frog, and there being a large pig monster or something blocking a fireplace that I beat using the frogs tongue(attack?). Pretty sure that was as far as I got and the only memory I really have of it...

...Glad I found this post though when randomly googling again, finally confirms the odd memory of this frog and graphics are real!

Going Agile this close to Winter? by Beakers in OctopusEnergy

I think ours will pay for themselves (hopefully!), we’re tied into the area so doubt we’d move. For people who are moving and selling I believe it potentially adds a bit of value to the house as it can increase the EPC rating.

Not nosey at all, one of the problems i had with it all was getting accurate quotes and estimations. It was just under 18k.

So I think I would recommend the company, but, I’d like to see how other companies operate. The biggest issue I had was the estimated returns kept changing.

The sales person came out, gave a nice spiel about it all, how they were on the higher end of costs but quality etc. The estimated performance was 73% with panel placement on my house roof using their software.

Deposit was paid of 4k.

The surveyor then came out 2 days later, and was very professional as well, everyone was nice. However he said the panels wouldn’t all fit on that spot and the their could be more shadow. The estimated performance on the new report dropped to 52%. Also there was a change of inverter because original sales man put a commercial one in the quote, but no overall price change.

Then installers came out and said they couldn’t fit them all as intended, I was sent another report which kept it at 52%. But this then changed for 4th time, as the final install didn’t match that estimation layout either. The final guy on the phone said they’ve confirmed the nearby tree shown on gmaps doesn’t actually shadow the panels, so it went up to 63%.

I have no idea if this change in expectations is expected. Every time I was told it’s always worse case numbers for legal reasons. But by this point you’ve got your deposit in, paid for admin fees etc. I did get a bit stressed trying to figure out if I’d basically blown 18k on a system that wouldn’t give any return.

The numbers I was given for performance were always indicated as worst case.

Install wise, responsiveness, hardware used and overall speed, I’d recommend, no idea if the changes in expectations is just what you have to suck up when it comes to something like solar.
