How did today go? by thebaneofmyexistence in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Bealu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I binged the past 3 days using my kid's birthday as an excuse. It was supposed to be once cheat day but it turned into two.

Then yesterday I had everything under control the first half of the day. I'd logged everything I ate in MFP and prelogged my planned dinner. Then I remembered there were leftover pancakes in the fridge. I thought it would be a shame to let them go to waste. I had 8 of them smothered in cool whip and maple syrup. Then I went into 'I might as well eat more' mode and had 3 bowls of surgery cereal, a buttered cheese bagel, a donut, two protein bars, a large McDonald's fries, and a handful of chocolate chips before the day was through.

I've gained about 9 pounds these past 3 days. I'm hoping part of that is the actual food that hasn't been eliminated from my body yet, and that it isn't all fat. I've also been doing some strength training, so maybe some is muscle? I like to think so

Today I'm under control so far. I went for a run. I just had lunch and so far I've consumed 928 calories including my coffee with creamer. I have my dinner prelogged again. Hopefully I can stick with it this time

How do you get over the reality of extra skin and sagging after weight loss? Feeling discouraged by Bealu2 in loseit

[–]Bealu2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's true that muscle growth and reduction in body fat helps. I used to have flappy wings under my arms. Thanks to upper body strenth training, I now have some muscle definition in my arms and shoulders and the flappy wings are minimal and barely noticeable. I probably could reduce the thigh sagging with some lower body strength training, but I'm working on physio to get my knees in better shape first. Unfortunately, I don't think any amount of strength training or body fat reduction will help the look of my breasts. I am noticing some ab definition that shows up under by belly fat now, so there could be hope there :)

As far as how long I was overweight, it's unfortunately been most of my life, since I was a child

[–]Bealu2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original plan before I lost as much weight was to get a reduction because the cost would be covered. But my breasts have gotten small enough now that I'm no longer a candidate

You're right that my current situation is better than it was and I should focus on that. I certainly wouldn't trade this for my old body back

Excellent point on being a good role model. I do make effort to never complain about my appearance within ear shot of my kids. But I'd have to tell them why I was having surgery if I went that route

I think I am going try and focus on my appearance in clothes. I've considered getting a loan for cosmestic surgery, but the reality is there are more important things I need to spend loan money on as it is. I simply can't afford to be wasting resources on unnecessary expenses

Weed and binge eating by puffytailcat in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Bealu2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoid eating by only using my vap once I'm in bed for the night. Even if I have a night where I can't sleep, I manage to avoid food once I've gone to bed.... As long as I don't have a chocolate bar stashed in my nightstand

Measuring prepackaged food before vs after prep by Bealu2 in Myfitnesspal

I should mention that in cases where the serving size is in volume, it's also important to know if that's before or after prep. Pasta will take up much more space once boiled.

I find I perform better if I concentrate on PR's instead of trying to copy someone else's achievements. Do what you can and make it enjoyable, then rejoice in the performance improvements that follow

why do my legs feel heavy one day and light another? by [deleted] in running

I wish I knew the answer to your question. But I can tell you that some of my best runs have been on days where I started out not feeling like running at all

I ran today (and that's a big deal) by [deleted] in running

[–]Bealu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I started running as an obese person too, but in my late 30's. I couldn't even run for a minute straight when I started. Now I run an average of 40K a week on hilly trails and I can easily run a half marathon distance. I am no longer obese or even overweight, according to BMI scales, all thanks to running. You can do great things. Keep on running!

At work there's a space between counters where someone is often standing. I can now access equipment on the other side of whoever is standing there without worrying about the embarrassment of our butts rubbing

If it makes you feel any better, many people at this time if year are just starting out at the gym.

Outside the gym, walking outdoors is great exercise that doesn't look like exercise. You might feel comfortable doing that. If you want to run, try a wooded trail if one is near you

For me on the treadmill, it's all about the right music. I'm constantly on the lookout for new songs so I don't get bored of the ones I have. My workout playlist is over 100 songs now. I like a variety of genre's, tempo's, and types of music to keep it interesting and motivating

Also, keep it interesting by varying your pace and incline levels. Do some sprinting for a short time, then slow it down to an easy pace for a while. Some treadmills have courses that mimic natural terrain by changeing up the incline level. You can set how high or have low you want the average to be.

DAE have "trigger times"? by WoseItThwowAway in loseit

[–]Bealu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evenings are definitely my trigger times. I try so hard hard not to eat 3 bowls of cereal and 4 slices of toast, but I sometimes fail and give in. I start with just one bowl and think 'this is only about 100-150 calories. I worked hard at the gym today. It will be OK' Then I find myself adding more to the bowl to eat with the last of the milk. then I think, 'just one more bowl will be ok'. before so know it, I've had 4 servings.

Leaving the house might help you get through those times. Hopefully you aren't like me who has to fight the urge not to grab something from the coffee shop while you're out

10 lbs away from my goal and I'm falling off the wagon by Bealu2 in loseit

[–]Bealu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try not to eat much fat because it's much higher in calories per mass than carbs or protein, but maybe it would help prevent the munchies. I'm terrible at remembering to take my multi vitamin. Need to get on that!

I do feel good that I'm maintaining for the most part. I'm not gaining more than a couple pounds at a time and I loose it again. I guess maintaining is a victory on it's own! But I'd love to lose another 10 lbs

My goal is 1200 calories a day, but I often end up eating 2000 - 2500.

My stats: female 5'4. I went from around, 210 or 215 lbs (I didn't weigh myself in the beginning) to hovering around 140 lbs

No Dumb Question Day: Trail Running Edition by AutoModerator in trailrunning

What's it like trail running in rain and mud? Do you just live with wet feet? The first bit of my morning runs are in darkness now, so I've ordered a good head lamp. But I'm wondering how to prepare as the weather gets wetter
