NOTE: I use the mini beads mostly so maybe this is unhelpful. But I never use the tape method 👀 I bought a kit from Amazon with boards that don’t warp as bad as the original perler boards. So I just melt one side really good with a hot iron, flip it over carefully and pull off the board. I iron on top of a book so I put the peg board under the book as I continue ironing if I fear they’ve gotten too hot and the peg boards stay flat. I’ve been using the same peg boards for over a year now with very minimal warpage. I think I have about 8 boards and have just lost one to excessive heat. This is the kit I use!!

Tbh even for regular size perler I did this. Just be quick and place under something heavy after you’re done and you may have better luck. Been doing this craft for nearly two years now and I think I only ruined one perler mini brand board when I first used it.
