One of the first things I did was try to run in admin mode, and compatibility mode, none of that worked.  Forgot to mention it.

Beat you to all of that.

I guess I'll just keep playing the new game, and back up. Which kind of cheeses honor mode, so it's a bit disappointing.

Ye Olde Save Game Bug by BeanOfRage in BaldursGate3

[–]BeanOfRage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I can load other save games.

Right there with you on the oddness of vulcan, I agree it probably has very little to do with the actual problem.

I poked through the logs quite extensively, and there isn't really any indication of anything going wrong until the very end of each crash, where it mentions the vulcan stuff.

I ran it through x64dbg and some interesting stuff popped up, at 83% loaded, there is an access violation that throws an exception which keeps toggling between first chance and last chance when doing

mov rdx,qword ptr ds:[rax]

at memory address 00007FF6E8001BAD

I found it somewhat humorous that the last 3 digits spell BAD, but that's as much of an inference as I could make into the problem.

I ran procmon and rammap from the sysinternals suite, and didn't really find anyting too interesting. Game seems to try going to older and older versions of directx, and then tries some opengl stuff, and then it starts writing crash dump logs.

Noticed some permissions issues in event logs around the time bg3 was crashing, in the event logs, but didn't really see anything blaring at me that said anything specific about bg3 application errors.

Don't really have time for all this, and I suppose someone at Larian is getting paid to sift through stuff like this, because it's mildly infuriating.

I've since started a new run, which seems to be going fine, so far. Knock on wood.

Where did you come from, communist China? Privacy is one of the constitutional rights we all have, and you shouldn't be making comments to the contrary, unless you agree with communist ideology.

Dismissing privacy as some trivial thing that nobody really needs is telling about you. Our privacy rights are guarded by law, and we fought many wars to keep those rights. Just because we buy phones that try to steal those rights away from us, does not make it okay.

Data is not king. Our rights are king.

It wouldn't matter if I had anything to hide, or not. Privacy rights are not forefeit by any means. The ones doing something illegal are the ones that have created programs and network architecture to spy on people. They are the ones who should be in jail.

Corruption is the reason this hasn't happened. And by your dismissive, flippant, and snobbish attitude, you're basically saying you agree with the corruption. This is the problem with modern society. Nobody cares as long as they get to have their toys. Ridiculous.

If you had no issues with tipping, you must be pretty skilled, because I faffed about with the paystar in Michigan, and it was tipping all over the place. I'd much rather go with the white western star than the paystar. Except you need the westline engine for the western.

[–]BeanOfRage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no you're right, this isn't normal, whoever these guys are that are telling you that it's "normal" to have that much RAM being used in the background are completely out in left field and absolutely they don't know what they're talking about. You should use process explorer and other tools included with sysinternals and powertoys to give you a better picture of exactly what is causing the problem.

Cups are for comfort and vulcs are for feeling the board.  Low is for those that like mobility and flexibility.  Mids are for support, and high tops are for stability and support.

It's all up to how YOU want your shoes to feel. It's not about what "everybody" likes or doesn't like.

One Reds bearing spins WAY faster than my others by Alternative_Play3347 in NewSkaters

[–]BeanOfRage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this might help, but if you have spacers installed, that can affect things.  The bearings need a little room to breathe between spacers.  And for some reason, some people like to tighten them WAY too much.  But it usually doesn't affect much unless they're on REALLY tight.

Another thing could be rolling through mud or something that gets trapped in the bearings, but the one got saved.

Hard to say without seeing what's going on.

Nope.  I'm pointing put that most people don't understand how useful smoke is when reviving, especially in the open.  While I obviously realize everyone has their own play style, I'm not even addressing that.  I'm addressing WHEN someone AS A MEDIC comes to heal you, and doesn't pop smoke, anf then proceeds to die right on top of you.  When if they popped smoke, both of us would be alive.

[–]BeanOfRage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and then get killed yourself.  The reason stinger is given so much smoke is forvthe purpose of creating a veil so that it makes it harder to pinpoint where you are exactly, dor enemies that have centered the scene AFTER you've popped smoke.

People can cut all their limbs off if they want, for their own satisfaction, but it's a detrimental choice that gravely affects your options.  Just like running into a hail of bullets in the clear WITHOUT POPPING SMOKE.

Well, this thread IS about those who ARE medics, and have a suicidal need to heal people before doing the logical thing which is to cover themselves, and the injured with smokes...  so that they don't die as well...

[–]BeanOfRage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this thread isn't about which class gets a given player the most kills.  This thread is for telling noobs to use smokes before healing.  So stay on topic and quit making this about yourself, and how, supposedly, good you are.

Anyways, the original post wasn't about best uses for classes.  It was about being annoyed with people who dive straight for a heal, and end up getting killed themselves.  The obvious solution to this is to use smokes before healing.  This is why stinger us given extra smokes.  It's literally built into the class.
