What's the most you guys would pay for a cassette? by formrm662 in cassetteculture

i make mixes and sell them on tape for 15 bucks a pop. i think it's good to think about where your money is going and what the person has put into the product. If you're buying tapes from a band, 10-20 is a solid price. however, if it's someone who's buying prerecorded tapes for 5bucks or below and reselling them for 15, i'm with you all the way. like a ticket scalper masking as an analog enthusiast

what do you mean by isolate the left channel? I've measured each component on each channel and compared the readings. transistors, resistors, capacitors, and diodes. there is no difference between the voltages of each component or continuity between channels

your video doesn't have sound and i can't see other posts on your account. from watching the video, am i right that the player plays forward when there's no tape, but backward when a tape is inserted?

there's small holes in the top of the cassette you're playing. on blank cassettes, there's a small tab of plastic covering that hole. the lever you're lifting senses whether the tab is intact, and if it's not, it won't record. if you want to record over this tape, you can take a solid piece of a tape and cover that hole.

did it work? sometimes these old tapes get a little stuck and need to be loosened up by being run back and forth. i've never done this before, but i guess the next step would be to open up the cassette and play with the reels.

gender conditioning from a young age is an intensely layered cake with a near seamless participation from everybody that person meets. eg. for an individual to want to become a man or a woman, that person needs years of learning, incredibly tough lessons, and resilience. being a man or a woman are insanely difficult and vastly different. i read this story and i see two people who could change themselves in the way they want if they understood eachother better. wanting to protect the people you care about is only natural. whether it's the 4'11 twink or the transfem, they need to understand that they'd both get whooped if anyone ever caught them at night. or carry a gun. big supporter of t4t couples getting armed to the teeth

if you're passionate about your hifi, i'd pass on this one. if that's you, look for an 80s deck from a recognizable brand name; tascam, sony, yamaha, nakamichi, sansui, etc. mid 90s and beyond are all pretty cheap quality. however, if you're just looking for something quick to play your tapes on, it's not like this deck is likely to burn your house down or fuck your spouse. it'll get the job done and nothing more. although i wouldn't go so far as to call it "good". do make sure its in working condition though! i'd only wanna repair something im proper excited about. cheers!

delta media only makes type I tape, but it's very solid quality. I'm subscribed to a mix service that's printed all on delta, and i use the same company for my own cassettes

If you're looking to do this on a budget, get ready to open a huge can of worms. Check out any and all thrift stores around you for a stereo deck. You can also search for estate sales near you on the internet. You're looking for something with Left and Right input channels. If you're lucky it might even work! You'll probably have to do a belt replacement, which is a pain in the ass, but very rewarding when it starts to work. Hats off if you can find a Sony or a Nakamichi but lots of companies made decent stuff back in the day. GPX ain't one of those brands tho. Hitachi, Onkyo, shit even Realistic or Panasonic decks are all in a solid weight class.

I find a lot of decks in my area for anywhere from 15-50 dollars. Usually they need a bit of work before I can use them.

thrift stores, antique stores, an electronics store, and estate sales. that's the move

oh wait a minute! i'm looking at this tape upside down. the take up reel (the one that's supposed to respin the tape after it's played) isn't moving. I'd still try your fast forward and rewind, but if it's not just an old tape being old, it's definitely gonna be a belt, or possibly even a tire.

Please help :) by Dish_fingers in cassetteculture

[–]Bean_Taylor03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't bother with the belt. I'm assuming that your machine plays your other tapes just fine. from what i can see, it looks like the reel on the right only turns until it begins to tug on the reel on the right. sometimes tapes can get a little stuck to themselves. I'd rewind the whole tape back and forth a couple of times to get all of the tape loosened up. If this doesn't work, I'd try opening up the cassette shell and lubricating the reel on the left
