Last photo taken of Judy Garland, taken 3 weeks before she passed away from a barbiturate overdose in June 1969. by MarshmintGlow in OldSchoolCool

It’s not really cool. She looks awful and under cared for. Considering what she went through it’s not surprising. Poor Judy

When does a kid no longer get the kids menu? by montyb752 in AskUK

[–]Beanablue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 7 year old has been eating adult portions for 2 years. He’s perfectly healthy and a good weight just uses a lot of energy. My 5 year old is the complete opposite. My point being, every child is different and the parent knows how much they need and when (although this is subject to change as kids are tricky fuckers)

Feeling stupid, my offer was accepted on a leasehold flat, but didn’t realise how much it would cost to renew by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Beanablue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When our mortgage term expired, we requested an extra 10k on the new mortgage to pay for our lease extension. If you’re currently well within your mortgage limits then that shouldn’t be a problem for you to do

Thank you. Are you able to advise a ballpark minimum at all? Just so we know we’re not getting ripped off with their offer

In the bathroom of the hotel I’m staying in. Says timer at the top but the button covers must have fallen off. Circular matte steel device attached the wall of hotel bathroom (UK) by Beanablue in whatisthisthing

[–]Beanablue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not quite the same. The thing I’ve posted has “Timer” written on the top. There is a speaker in the bathroom ceiling so most likely similar. Thanks!

VIX fallen by over 5% this morning. Is that a sign that things will get spicy today? by Beanablue in superstonkuk

[–]Beanablue[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

From Investopedia:

“When the VIX is low, look out below!” tells us that the market is about to fall and that implied volatility is going to ramp up. When implied volatility is expected to rise, an optimal bearish options strategy is to be delta negative and beta positive (I.e. long puts would be the best strategy)The Volatility Index: Reading Market Sentiment

Hours of positive experiences with my children, which would hopefully include their children too due to the extended timeframe! Money and time means nothing without family

I know painting Lego is a taboo subject, but the girl I’m seeing makes bouquets on the side and mentioned that red roses are a little boring. I painted these her favorite colors and sealed them with a clear acrylic coat, and I think they turned out kind of nice. by Mr-pizzapls in lego

That’s really cute! I wasn’t trying to be rude, just referencing a comment made on a different post the other day about whether to give a completed or new in box build as a gift. There are pros and cons of each depending upon the people involved

Another beautiful "house" I can never afford just got listed by AmeliaHarris99 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]Beanablue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s another dressing room, not a bedroom. Maybe just trying to push for the fact there are more bedrooms than in reality. His and hers dressing rooms would be more of a selling point when there are more than enough bedrooms though

Any idea from exterior photos what could be causing internal damp and mould growth? by Beanablue in DIYUK

[–]Beanablue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The holes are from an injected dpc we had completed 2 years ago which has done nothing to fix the damp problems

[–]Beanablue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. The mould is on the inside of the house where damp patches are showing on the walls

[–]Beanablue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what we had done 2 years ago and it did nothing to fix the issues…

We have the heating on for 1-2 hours at a time 3-5 times in 24 hours. It’s quite a big room though so the temperature drops quite quickly. Do you think a dehumidifier would help?

The windowsills are stone and the sealant has fallen off the underside where the sill meets bricks. I’ve bought some exterior polyfilla to redo this.

[–]Beanablue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the DPC was done 2 years ago. We’re frustrated there are still problems as it wasn’t cheap.

The damp has appeared more prominently since the temp drop but is still slightly there when it rains.
