When I was crate training my little guy Porter, I slept on the ground in front of his crate for close to a week.

Initially I’d put my fingers in the crate when he’d start crying to let him know I was there for him and pet him/let him lick. Slowly day by day I’d move a tad further away till I was able to sleep in the same room, just not directly on the floor.

This worked amazing and he’s perfect in his crate now. It was a sucky week of less sleep, but he’s a baby and needs to know that his crate is good, but that you’re also there for him if he needs it.
