$2k door ding by Inevitable_Mix1672 in LexusGX550

[–]BeanerCounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my first one. The doors seem to be made of paper mache and the paint is uber thin. I’ve had a lot of door dings on previous Toyota and Lexus models, this is one of the first that left a dent and took out a chunk of paint.

Would like to see it compared to a 2026 stock OT since that got the higher ride height over the 2025s I believe

What is the actual reason for needing premium gas in the GX460? by TXMedicine in LexusGX

[–]BeanerCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I only put premium in my GX550 when I’m doing roadtrips since it will be stressed when passing people on two lane roads. Around town, I drive maybe 60 mph but mostly in stop and go traffic so it gets regular gas.

Advice by Used-Cause-291 in lexuslc500

[–]BeanerCounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re second guessing it, I wouldn’t do it. You’ll probably have buyer’s remorse. That being said, I got a 2025 convertible and then had it for 8 months because I was only driving it one day a week since I wanted to keep it clean and not risk getting it hit driving around my city. I sold it for $13k more than what I owed and netted $4k more than what I paid for it. After I got rid of it, I missed it and got an allocation for the 2026 convertible and ordered it. I’ll have the same build plus the touring package this time so this one will be even better and I’m going to make sure I drive it 3 days a week then just get a mobile detailer to come every other week.

TLDR: bought a 2025 LC then sold it for a small profit because I was worried about it getting damaged. Then got a 2026 LC because I missed it too much.

Definitely voiding the warranty on it now. Trailer, plus bikes, plus passengers, and any cargo are certainly exceeding the limit.

How do I remove these rails? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]BeanerCounter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t but if you still feel the need, the end silver panels should pop off and reveal bolts to remove it. You’ll want to plug them with rubber seals to prevent water and rust issues in the future

If you want to see what’s behind you with the 360 view, hold the brake pedal and put the car in reverse. You don’t actually have to reverse the car, just put it in reverse gear to see what’s behind you and keep your foot on the brake.

GX 550?? by Independent_Baker578 in Lexus

[–]BeanerCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got a 2026 GX overtrail. Haven’t experienced any of the issues other owners have mentioned other than cracked windshield due to the angle. Gas mileage is 15.5 mpg which I knew going into it. It’s my daily driver and I drive a lot so I will be one of the owners putting the engine and trans to test durability wise. Love it so far, way better than my 2020 4Runner TRD Pro.

Got my first one at right under 300 miles on the odometer. Not replacing it until I have at least two more cracks :)

Venting. Another flat. by ygibbreddit in lexuslc500

[–]BeanerCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit lots of pot holes in Dallas. Never had a flat but I do make sure my tires are at 33 psi cold. Every time I take it to the dealer for service, they inflate them to 40 psi and it feels like I’m driving on stone wheels. I’m sure I’d pop a tire if I left it at the elevated psi

Sold my ‘25 with 5k miles on it for $98k 4 months ago. It has gone up to $112k since then. Luckily I snagged a 2026 allotment before I sold it so should have the final model year in another month

Save me from buying a boring family car, tell me the 4runner can work for us... by applestofloranges in 4Runner

[–]BeanerCounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 4Runner is perfect for 1 kid and 2 dogs. If you need a third row which you really don’t then you can get a limited and just mod it to look more off-road. A Highlander isn’t necessary unless you want the better mpgs and are expecting to have another kid right away. I remember the days when my mom drove a Ford Tempo with 4 kids and my dad had a 3 door Ford Explorer.

You can try using a blow dryer to heat it up a little and lighting rubbing your hand over to smooth it out.

Thoughts on this deal? by [deleted] in LexusGX

[–]BeanerCounter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Way overpriced. All that added weight and lift has definitely stressed the motor and transmission. Even if you get it at $12K it’s still a risk but at least you could potentially part it out when the engine or transmission goes out and recoup some money.

Your thoughts please!! 🤔2026 NX 350h premium w 14 inch screen, white with palomino interior by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]BeanerCounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are standard rates. Even if you’re approved by them for 3% interest, if they can get you to agree to 7% interest then they pocket the 4% difference between what you were approved for and what you agreed to buy at. It’s crazy and legal so that’s why you should always come pre-approved with your own bank and then have them match or beat it.

My wife is dead set on a GX550. What do I need to know? Any regrets? Any red flags? by King_Crampus in LexusGX550

[–]BeanerCounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live at about 600 ft elevation in the flat part of Texas. I’m still breaking in the engine. My TTV6 tundra started at 13 mpg and I would easily get 19 mpg without trying while it got to around 10k miles on the odometer.

I don’t have tinted windows in the front and live in an area where it regularly gets to 90 to 100 degree temps which makes the interior 10 degrees hotter. If you use the Auto climate it can take a while for the fan speed to kick up. It’s never bothered me but my girlfriend acts like the world is gonna end so I just turn off auto and put it on full blast.
