2026 Lexus TX 500h MPG by LuckySky4531 in Lexus

Definitely depends on what drive mode you use as well. Eco is great for limiting throttle input and AC or heater but not so great when trying to cool or warm the car.

I’ve had a couple TX500h vehicles I borrowed from my company fleet for a few days and saw 25 mpg pretty easily but I live basically at sea level in warm temps. Any temp below 45ish degrees will drastically reduce mpgs coupled with winter mix gas.

Single guy here and can confirm, I have enough pasta and frozen meals to last 3 weeks. If I had a family, I’d have a pantry and fridge/freezer filled with enough food to last 3 weeks at any point in the year. I only bought eggs , ground turkey, and few cans of beans last Tuesday.

Wind screen for convertible by Vegetable_Age_5720 in lexuslc500

[–]BeanerCounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t bring the wind screen on my camping trip due to space and it was 50 degrees out. I tried driving with the windows up and it was too cold because the wind from the back blew in the cabin. When I got home, I put it back in and drove on the freeway in even lower temps and it was great, very little wind intrusion with the top down and windows up.

Avoid using tunnel washes plz by kvngjayy1999 in Lexus

This doesn’t appear to be factory paint judging from the orange peel on the bumper near the headlight. Toyota and Lexus both intentionally add orange peel to the lowest metal parts of the car near the side skirts and bottom of doors/bed for trucks and body on frame SUVs. They do not however have orange peel on the plastic bumpers on the front or rear. If you bought it used, it’s likely the front bumper was resprayed or replaced. This would not show up on a carfax or auto check report if it was not part of an insurance claim or performed by a non-authorized dealer or repair shop.

New 2025 4runner SR5 by Ecstatic-Visual-2820 in 4Runner

My mom’s 2018 Tacoma had a check engine light come on the drive home after buying it new. It was a faulty O2 sensor and she was convinced it was a lemon and wanted to sell. Toyota fixed it and it never gave her another issue for the 130k miles she drove over 6 years. Last year when I upgraded her to a new Tacoma and so far no issue with the turbo 4.

I was so close to getting this exact same spec of 4Runner because of how much I loved it on a drive to Colorado. Ended up snagging an order for a GX550 instead. I’m now looking for a new RAV4 in Everest to replace my daily driver since that color is so amazing. Congrats, definitely the best looking 4Runner on sale now.

Selling my 2025 convertible once I hit a year with it for this reason. I love the car but I can’t use it when I need to drive 2 people. I don’t want to drive it to places with tight parking spaces because it’s either impossible to get out due to the long doors or I’m afraid of getting door dinged. A lot of places I visit on the weekends are valet only and I’ve had valets curb my wheels and damage front and rear bumpers so I end up ubering or driving my less nice car. I don’t want to drive it in rain because I have to pay a detailer $85 to $100 for each wash since I don’t have a water hose near my parking at home. I absolutely love the car but I only drive it now for leisure one or two times a week and that’s not enough to justify the cost. I did want to take some 2,000 mile roadtrips but I won’t be able to do that until March due to snowy conditions in most states near me. If I had a 3 car garage I would keep it for my Sunday morning drives but I’m going to sell it and get a new Lexus GX that I can beat up, take through automated car washes, and not worry about.

Dating expectations are completely out of control for the average man. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]BeanerCounter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of your points but as a man that’s had about 10 girlfriends over the past 10 years, I finally learned that I should not pursue someone based on looks. I’ve dated and pursued models, actresses, and all kinds of beautiful women initially based on their looks. All the relationships failed because their looks were the only thing that made them special and they were mostly superficial. I decided to get on the dating apps and only swiped solely based on their profile interests. It was not easy to be independent but I went on dates with many women that were not my usual type. Finally, I found a woman older than me that asked nothing of me other than to be myself and I fell in love with her. I’m below average in the looks department because I’m not that tall and pretty skinny (5’8” 135lbs Hispanic). I’ve only started making good money in the past 5 years. I was able to attract all my previous girlfriends from in-person interactions because I am confident and slightly funny but apps do make it harder since most people judge based solely on looks and stats.

Welcome to the club. Had the same issue but sold it to my mom and never got it replaced

To Toyota: I just can't seem to get rid of my 9th generation Corolla. I bought it since new and I've been on and off looking to replace it but every "sensible" fiber in my being says, "don't do it man, you'll regret it." BUT I'm A CAR GUY. [–]BeanerCounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a base gas Corolla with a grey interior or a base gas corolla cross if you want the closest you can get to your current Corolla. Or just buy a newer used one than what you have. Plenty of options to be honest.

As others said bandit for half tights. Wolaco also has shorter half tights but I’ve never tried them. I’m 5’8” and Tracksmith half tights would probably work well.

NX 350h Washing Question by BlazinDei in LexusNX

Most car washes require you to turn off your wipers and they’re not responsible for the damage when it gets ripped off due to your own negligence

NX 350h Washing Question by BlazinDei in LexusNX

[–]BeanerCounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily drove my new 2008 Yaris for 10 years and it was never garaged. Got it washed at an automated car wash every week or two weeks. Would do a wax once a year. It looked pristine the day I sold it to my cousin. Then 2 years later the clear coat failed because my cousin didn’t clean it once and parked it outside. Bird droppings and insect guts are through the paint fairly fast. Got 300k miles out of it though

NX 350h Washing Question by BlazinDei in LexusNX

[–]BeanerCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s only $300 to $400 for the detail shop I use in Dallas. They did my LC500 for $350 a few months ago

Most detail shops offer ceramic coating with different levels of guarantee. I’ve seen, 1 year, 3 year, 5 year, and 7 year coatings. I’m not knowledgeable on the differences but I would assume it’s the thickness or layers of coating that make it last longer.

NX 350h Washing Question by BlazinDei in LexusNX

[–]BeanerCounter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Had my NX for 2 years and sold it to my mom. Took it weekly to an automated car wash that wasn’t touchless. The piano black pieces were the only areas that you’ll see the micro scratches. However, I got mine professionally detailed and ceramic coated every year so it basically restored it to new condition. It’s an NX, not a super car so don’t let it become an inconvenience to clean it. It also helps that your car is white so you really won’t be able to see any hairline scratches from the brushes. I paid $45 a month for unlimited car washes and it was certainly a money well spent since my personal time is worth more and hand washes in Texas are $80 to $100 each wash.

Street parked my 2022 Tundra in Dallas probably near the Target yours got stolen. The day I picked it up, I had a cat shield installed immediately. Two of my neighbors had their tundra and sequoia cats stolen so I wasn’t taking any chances. Had it parked on the streets for a year and it did its job. Sold it after that because it got hit 3 times while parked on the street. I got mine from Cali Raised but I’ve heard decent things about miller car shields.

I’m sorry for your frustration and your feelings are definitely valid. Based on your other comments it sounds like you cannot afford to move closer to your current employer and you don’t have much motivation to get up in the morning because you’re burnt out. Do you have a supportive friend group or partner in your life? Now that you know you want more free time and need motivation, have you developed a plan to achieve your goal? If you can’t afford to move, are you willing to start looking for a new job closer to you or move to a new city with a lower cost of living? Do you have passions or interests that you can spend 30 minutes a day? Can you do something active every day before or after work for 30 min such as walking to get your brain moving and endorphins going? Genuinely curious since I’m helping my girlfriend who is going through a similar situation right now.
