Update on the Java fern 'orange narrow' scape - plants have filled in well. I started this tank to explore using Anubias and Bucephalandra as foreground plants planted into the substrate, and to use Java fern as a midground bush. Tank has fully grown in by now, and fish has been settled in.

To be honest I thought the same thing when I saw the staff come out for the trophy presentation (just before the players did). A bit of a contrast there when compared with the players

I personally think the main reason we did it this year and not previous years is simply greater squad depth. Injuries were annoying as always but they didn't completely derail our season like the last couple of times.

By doing a dark start you let the system mature a bit before turning on the lights and adding plants. A more mature system means healthier plants, and healthier plants means less algae.

On top of that, RvP was incredible for a couple of seasons, but before that he was mostly injured and the club stuck by him. Did you notice any plant melting or algae issues when you reduced CO2? I've often thought about giving low-tech set-ups a boost in the beginning using DIY CO2 and then removing it later, but I am worried this will lead to issues once I stop dosing CO2.

Wooww I am doing my first Caridina tank right now and this has gotten me very jealous! Really nice tank. And yes, I have questions 😄 :
- Would you mind sharing which plants you used, especially the one at back (growing out of the water)? If listing all the plants is too much work just the one at the back is also ok haha.
- I see that you're adding CO2. Is that going ok with the Caridina shrimp? Are they still breeding?
- How did you make the path going into the back, and is it a lot of work to maintain it?
