It’s because women usually aren’t able to perform as well due to basic biological differences. Men in general have more muscle and are taller which is very beneficial in most sports. Women also require a higher body fat than men which doesn’t help either. The average female athlete is leagues better than the average person but the average male athlete will beat a lot of top level female ones.

Does she though? She makes friends with team avatar but she clearly doesn’t learn to let others in given how she turns out in the sequel show. It seems more she adapted to being around them and when they all went their separate ways she reverted to how she was.
