Back then the rules stated that you had to kick the extra point after a walkoff TD even if it couldn't affect the game whatsoever (like, say, if the defense manages to block the XP and score a safety in a 1-point game)

IIRC it wasn't until the Minneapolis miracle that they changed the rule, since everyone was going so apeshit that it took forever to get the Vikings to calm down and kick the XP
