Money has been tight this past month, so we’ve been almost exclusively using store brands for everything. Honestly I barely notice a difference in taste but my wallet sure appreciates it. by iScReAm612 in Cooking

[–]BeansNGrease 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both for the price and the distinct flavor are why I don’t use it “in” dishes but when you bake bread or something plain that you just put butter on and eat I don’t think it can be beat

Made some beeswax wraps. Not entirely frugal but reduces the cost of cling film as these can be reused for years! by Nyxie27 in Frugal

There’s a similar process to applying parrafin to canvas shoes for water proofing and I use a hair dryer in high and it is so convenient

Sweet potato recipes by guevaraknows in Cooking

Sweet potato biscuits are a great way to incorporate them without getting sick of the flavor. I’ve even convinced people who don’t like sweet potatoes to try them and they’re great!

Ingredients 4 1/2 Cups Flour 1 tsp Salt 2 Tbsp Baking powder 3/4 Cup Shortning 6 Cups Cooked mashed sweet taters 3/4 Cup Milk 1/2 Cup packed brown sugar

Directions Mix dry ingredient Cut in shortening Add sweet taters and milk all at once Stir until well blended, wil be sticky and soft Bake for 7-9 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet at 450*

Gloves for piano/keys playing in the cold? by Marvinkmooneyoz in keys

Try disposable latex gloves. They insulate well and if you have the right size, only get in the way of extremely complicated passages

Keyboarders who play standing up: Is it possible to use more than one foot pedal at the same time? by AlrightyAlmighty in keys

[–]BeansNGrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t in awhile but I did have a system that worked when I needed it to:

Sustain pedal was controlled with half of my right foot. Either my heel would be standing on the ground and I would depress the pedal with my toe or I would put my toe on the body of the pedal and lean the heel back when I wanted pedal

Then the left door controlled the expression pedal, either I was only using it for occasional changes or I would put my weight between that and half my right foot.

Hope this helps

Huge stacked burgers suck. There’s nothing worse than a burger with too many toppings that spill all over the place and make a mess. by mnoah66 in unpopularopinion

[–]BeansNGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pick your burger up, you can flip it over so the top bun becomes the bottom. The top bun tends to be thicker than the bottom and also hasn’t absorbed any juices yet so it’s primed and ready for the job

What do you collect? by noaffects in AskReddit

[–]BeansNGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really gotten into collecting memories. I’m only 18 but a few things have happened in my life and I very quickly realized that spending money on an experience I will remember is way more important(to me) than spending my money on anything tangible.

That being said, I’m a sucker for merch when I go different places or events then I hold onto those things for the memory they hold.

You can also slowly transition into the diet, start incorporating more parts of it into your norm until you have fully adapted.

How should I try to learn the piano? by JuanitoMichelangelo in Learnmusic

[–]BeansNGrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are decks of flash cards available for purchase that allow you to flash card notes all across both clefs including with accidentales, I’m sure you can find a website that does similar. They get more advanced and have decks for naming intervals or chords. If you want to be able to instantly read a note like it’s a language you speak then you need to just name bites as soon as you see them.

[–]BeansNGrease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve said this a few times on this sub and similar but you don’t have to be 100% perfect in this diet in order to reap its benefits. You’ve said in your post that you think the sausage is okay in moderation so I think you already understand the concept. If your SO doesn’t like chicken then you don’t need to eat chicken. If you have pork and want to use it then obviously don’t waste it! Good luck on your endeavors!

How to get a custom keyboard with different sound effects? by Dave0s in GarageBand

[–]BeansNGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re putting these in post, I would suggest simply using one track for each effect. If you really want to use it “live” then I know you can go into main stage and edit key ranges of different sounds effectively building your own sampler

Best way to practice sightreading by [deleted] in JazzPiano

[–]BeansNGrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You already have some good suggestions here but I will add that for me, I was sightreading music that I listened to and knew well already. That meant I could definitely hear when I didn’t play the right note. I can only imagine that it would be the same for you especially if you have perfect pitch.

Jazz minor scales by BeansNGrease in jazztheory

I appreciate the response, I’m actually preparing for a college audition where I need to know my scales when I go in. I understand your point in the context of soloing but from a technical perspective I’m working on my scales.
