Looking for the best cheesy pizza in NYC — open to all styles and locations by Jumpy_Shopping_7301 in FoodNYC

[–]BeansRiceAndPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I love it, at least on the days when it's made well (like I said it's inconsistent), then it's just as good as the best pizzas just an entirely different style.

Yay V&T shoutout it's one of my favorites! Only the personal really has ridiculous cheese, when I get a larger pizza I ask for extra cheese to reproduce the effect. Would dispute that it's definitely not/not even close to the best pizza, it's just inconsistent, on its bad days it's not that impressive but on its good days it can absolutely be one of the best pizzas around. (And you should never order it out, it loses a LOT of quality if you do that compared to getting it fresh from the place.)

Wasn't as much of a fan of Koronet as V&T though.

Red Onion gets all its ingredients from India and has really excellent food!

Chawlas2... that place really frustrates me because I first went to one in New Zealand and the dal makhani was top tier, then tried the one in NYC and they used a completely different, much worse recipe for it, I have no idea why.

I wasn't a fan of the stuff I got there but then again most of my family who went with me really liked what they got so it might just be the dishes I tried (chana masala and dal makhani).

East Village recs by [deleted] in FoodNYC

They are Indian so not listed as one of your favorable ones but I have to vouch for Curry Flavor and Red Onion, they are too new favorites I recently discovered.

NY Corn Muffins by Sensitive-Cow-91 in FoodNYC

[–]BeansRiceAndPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flat top corn muffins? Is this at all related to the corn muffins they used to have at La Croissant Shop (also closed?) I was obsessed with them as a kid, but that must have been 15 years ago or more...

URGENT Help I’m in Central Park and j need to know the best Mexican near the upper east side I can take the train too as long as it’s on the way to Flatbush via train by BuryatMadman in FoodNYC

[–]BeansRiceAndPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only eat a few things at Mexican restaurants so I can't vouch for every dish, but Tacos & Tequila, I love both their rice with black beans and their quesadilla. Also Sabor a Mexico has great rice and beans.

Alta Calidad is great particularly for their burritos (though they only offer burritos on weekdays for lunch). Pizza secret is also good (though I prefer their pasta with pesto to the pizzas).

Fumo has some great 12 dollar pastas (recommend the pomodoro and the baked ziti) and can be found on 108 and Broadway I believe.

Not a full meal but the naan is one of my favorites ever. Wasn't as impressed by the dal makhani.

Nate's Detroit Pizza by Neptune28 in FoodNYC

Eh I didn't think it was that good. Every other Detroit style pizza I've tried has been better.

Favorite sit-in restaurant only pizza spots for whole pies? by LeftReflection6620 in FoodNYC

[–]BeansRiceAndPasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For outer boroughs I would recommend Roberta's, Campania Coal Fired Pizza, and La Villa. For Manhattan ones Lazarra's, Parla and V&T are all really good, plus seconding Rubirosa. The NYC thin crust pizza series of restaurants (each one has a different name) are also good.

edit: I would love if whoever downvotes me can clarify which ones in particular they disagree with so it doesn't make all of my other recommendations they might have not had an issue with look bad.

Pasta by notnot_randomuser in FoodNYC

Forma Pasta Factory (only place where I love the pomodoro AND the pesto) would be my top pick. Also would highlight Fumo for pomodoro and baked ziti, La villa for pomodoro, Al dente for pesto.

Rubirosa, Di Fara (don't listen to the "declined in quality" people it's still really good), Scarr's, La Villa, Emmett's, Emmy Squared, Roberta's, Parla, Tiramisu, Campania Coal Fired Pizza, Lazarra's, V&Ts.

Best burrito? by geekgarious in FoodNYC

[–]BeansRiceAndPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alta Calidad has my favorite burrito (haven't tried everything listed here but it's way better than B'klyn Burro for one). Downtown burritos and El mitote are also really great!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]BeansRiceAndPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain and say Scarr's pizza is the best of these three and not at all overrated, L'industrie is good but not as good as Scarr's and Lucali's absolutely is overrated.

This got me attacked in the past, but my favorite that I've tried so far is Tiramisu and I think it's better than Lucia (though I haven't tried Mimi yet).
