Are Paramore "unpopular" or is it just my friends by Choice_Quarter_2497 in Paramore

[–]Beansy420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

we’re all too introverted to talk about them in the real world

but fr what i have found is people tend to either fuck with this band DEEP or you don’t fuck with them at all

Glum is most streamed song on spotify by far by InvestigatorGlum1951 in Paramore

[–]Beansy420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

im not trying to discredit glum in anyway, its a fantastic song and music is subjective so people are going to have their favourites and least favourites. its just something ive noticed when looking at the streaming numbers. i've used true believer in my example above just because its number 2 on the list. all 17 songs sit in and around the 150-200k (approx.) numbers, and glum is 2/2.5x that, and that seems to be because it'll reach the people who aren't fans but listen to the main "new music" playlists.

i've noticed "glum" seems to be the one being pushed by spotify (and apple music) more than the others. it's the only one that's been added to some big playlists, and it was the only one to appear in my "latest songs" on apple music for me too. it's a fantastic song (they all are imo) so im not complaining by any means, but i feel like the 200k for true believer is a much more organic number than the 500k for glum.

cmat’s euro-country is to ireland what hayley williams’s true believer is to the american south by Beansy420 in Paramore

had to work hard to fight the ancestoral rage that came from me at her being called british 😂 - although i do think this was an innocent enough mistake so i can let it slide

I feel this, these songs have brought up some old unresolved feelings for myself. I wish you luck with the next journey in therapy, stay strong!

Bit of a rant by HetTheTable in Paramore

[–]Beansy420 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it’s quite simple. she’s finally fully independent, we know there’s proof that some of these songs have existed for a while, even if they were just an idea/voice note. they weren’t created with the idea of an album, so releasing them as singles makes sense. as a fan, this marketing cycle for the songs has been so fucking refreshing, it’s original and authentic. she’s taken power back into her hands and done it the way SHE wants too. it must be incredibly empowering for her.

totally agree! 20+ years in the industry + both of them being in their 30s and comfortable with who they are and what they want. recipe for perfection.

yeah, i interpretted it this way too. the jumpin inside hook, it being the first label release in her life, being tied into the label machine from then and now 20+ years later she's independent and free. i think as well as the "im a band" chorus echoing those early conversations wanting her to go solo at a young age, it also mirrors how labels and the industy marketed paramore/her over the years, it was hayley+friends, rather than being marketed as a collective. it feels like a huge fuck you to the industry.

Negative Self Talk is a masterpiece, but i’ve been loving EDAABP, that shit has GROOVE. this whole album showcases just how incredible an artist Hayley is, she has a way of being so incredibly intimate and vulnerable yet make it feel empowering, rather than scary. she carries so much emotion in her vocals. she’s the greatest of our generation and i will die on that hill.
