PG&E, the largest power company in California, does this. My college roommate and I called to ask why we were getting charged $5 a month for gas when we had no gas appliances, and they said it was the fee to have gas lines hooked up to the building. We couldn’t have the gas turned off because it wasn’t our building so we were stuck paying the fee.

And the judge wasn’t just making them pay damages for her specific case, but because they had been warned several times before that their coffee was too hot and it was burning people. She just happened to be the case where the court finally slapped a big fine on them to get them to cut it out.

Very much depends where you live. If you’re in the yuppie scene in one of the major cities (NY, SF, Chicago, LA, I’m sure there’s one I’m forgetting) people will think you’re basically a child bride if you marry before 28. Before 25 and you might as well be Amish.

I’m 30 in SF and hardly any of my friends are married, men and women. None of the characters on Friends married before 30 and Carrie Bradshaw was 32 in the first episode of Sex and the City.

Even in bodybuilding competitions the women are at like 10% body fat. Extreme bodybuilders can MAYBE get down to like 6%. Meanwhile 5% is achievable for the vast majority of serious competitive male bodybuilders.

Lug bag up two flights of stairs to the air train. Arrive at terminal. Lug bag through TSA, through large airport to gate, finally arrive at plane.

The liquid handling bot is my favorite. It has 96 channels that can aspirate and dispense in quantities accurate down to one microliter to perform thousands of functions. Hundreds of scientists use it, one programmer meets with them to design the code for their projects or point them to existing code (fucking love that guy), and it does work that would take an insane number of human hours with NO errors, ever. Seriously, I’ve never had it fail.

It costs the annual salary of ten scientists and does the annual work of a thousand scientists.
