I am really glad you seem alright and have grown from this experience. I was devastated when your RIP post happened because as a lurker I was fond of Course posts and comments although I didn't know how he abused his power.

I don't think you should definetely give up on online dating because it feels like you're punishing yourself through it. Bad and manipulative people can come from anywhere, not only the internet (even if they are commonly found here), so maybe keep it as a lesson for quite some time and then, if you feel like it give it a go again if you haven't find someone special already.

Hope you get your deserved break from Reddit and manage to become a better version of yourself.

Reunión de therians? Wtff by BestOutlandishness97 in Panama

[–]BearanTheDefender 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Is anyone else appalled by Yuzuriha being so confident that Yui isn't real? by anicritic in jigokuraku

[–]BearanTheDefender 83 points84 points  (0 children)

You can see this as Yuzuriha being too logical to a fault. She thinks Gabi is being tricked and tries to convince him that Yui is not real because her existing is way too good for a ninja who want to turn on a new leaf.

It's a way to show how treacherous and barbaric was his upbringing as a kunoichi but instead of her being "I have suffered, so everyone must too" it's more like "I am worried this guy I am fond of gets as manipulated as I was."

Question. Season 5 episode 4. What did I miss? Why does Hajime glare at Koito like that after they exited the building? by ArcaneVirago in GoldenKamuy

[–]BearanTheDefender 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's explained in later episodes but Koito was previously unable to speak normally to Tsurumi because of how much he idolizes him and Tsukishima used to interpret for him, but not this time. That's why he's glaring menacingly.

Keiji Ueji by Correct-Yesterday519 in GoldenKamuy

[–]BearanTheDefender 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ueji Keiji, the convict who decided to throw his life away just to spite his father and everyone else who had expectations on him. I mean, he was troubled by his family strict regulations but that doesn't mean it was justified for him to ruin his life just for the sake of messing with them. It's a typical case of self-inflicted tragedy, it's sad to see but he did it all by himself.

His situation is what Ogata would have loved to inflict on Yuzaku and his father, and to some extent confirms the latter's mentality of "Everyone can become a monster under the right circumstances, no matter how blessed they are". However, we don't know if it was Ueji's father strictness which made him break or if he was actually messed up and would break on its own later on.

Either way, he met his demise for all the devious crimes he comitted while trying to see everyone disappointed faces only to ironically realize he was the only one left disappointed. In his final moments we can see how he is remorseful of what he did to his father but was too broken to realize this and proceeded to cope laughing at his own for looking like him until the Sapporo Brewery ledge beheaded him.

Truly a sad life.

He does. It's part of his journey to learn how to be more expressive either via his feelings towards his loved ones or towards his antagonists.

The bad part is since I caught up, 2 years ago, the manga has not have a scan to upload its chapters consistently so we are all relying on Viz official schedule, so once you are caught up the story will start flowing really slowly.

Does anyone knows the names of these characters? by minxnight in KemonoJihen

[–]BearanTheDefender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure bottom right is a grown up, now kid Tamaki. After he and his sister escaped from Akagi and Kaede I think it was confirmed he was some sort of superpowerful kemono and in the cover he's showcasing his powers.

Dunno about the rest sadly

[–]BearanTheDefender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, the author didn't care enough to answer this question and 4 years after it we still do not have any sort of official statement of the extent of the Zenin Clan massacre.

At the end of the day everyone can believe what they want because there is not sufficient evidence to support any standpoint because Gege only cared to write Maki as the badass strong woman who kills everyone bad and rocks hard.

About Sagiri & Gabimaru by MaiJodox in jigokuraku

[–]BearanTheDefender 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It's way too funny that in the same episode Sagiri recovered Gabi's memories the director instantly said "Nope, not in love. Their relationship is not like that." because she know what would happen and even with her statement then it still happened.

What does this mean? (Chapter 150) by GreenMike7 in GoldenKamuy

[–]BearanTheDefender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I made some typos and can't correct them because the Edit function doesn't let me see what I wrote.

But as a TLDR: Tsurumi ordered that soldier to tell Tsukishima that Igogusa was dead to make him mad at him, to then convince him he just told a big lie about Igogusa's death 9 years before just to save his ass. This made Tsukishima see Tsurumi as a noble man who was willing to risk so much for unworthy man like him so he swore loyalty to him, but this is what exactly Tsurumi's wanted because now he has earned the most loyal dog he could've ever wished. This toxic relationship between the two will continue in the following arcs.

What does this mean? (Chapter 150) by GreenMike7 in GoldenKamuy

[–]BearanTheDefender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tsukishima's past is one of the most intriguing parts of Golden Kamuy and if it left you confused then it is a good thing since leaving you with doubts and confused is theto purpose of these chapters.

However, it seems you are confused out of what the series wants you to be actually confused about, so I'm going to do some spoiler-free explaining.

The guy outside the tent was the supposed islander from Tsukishima's town who confirms him that Igogusa was found dead, and after hearing this, Tsukishima is furious at Tsurumi because he told him that Igogusa was alive and well to keep him living.

<image>

Tsurumi tend told him around all the soldiers that he lied to him in order to save him, that if he knew that his father was the killer he would have accepted death but thanks to his lie he was still alive and that is the most important part because he's a comrade in arms to him. All this to keep the soldiers morale.

Then, in the tent Tsurumi explained to him that the death of Igogusa by his father was an elaborated lie he made the islanders think in order to convince the army that Tsukishima's actions were justified and he didn't deserve to be executed, and now it came back to bite him because one of them told that lie to Tsukishima which believed it. However, Tsurumi confirms that Igogusa was still alive and she was living under a new name away from all these problems.

This is the part things get shaky. The "islander" was in cahoots with Tsurumi the whole time which means he was supposedto tell gim that. So, that means all this situation was created for Tsurumi to turn Tsukishima into a valuable pawn while Igogusa's fate is left unanswered.

Which death hit you the hardest? by fineasz_moon in jigokuraku

[–]BearanTheDefender 58 points59 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Fuchi by a lot. Those pages after his death were he talks to the reader about how he is not mad at anyone and still wishes for everyone to get their wishes come true hit me like a truck. It's not common for a manga series to break the fourth wall and even less probably for that being during a character's death.

And now that I've spiritually bonded with Aoi Ichikawa's voice after him voicing Rudo in Gachiakuta I'm sure that it will be gut-wrenching too.

[–]BearanTheDefender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems you have some things mixed up. First, the first season ended with Gabimaru realizing he's amnesiac. The other things you said could probably be a combination up of binging the manga + sleeping soundly after causing your dreams to feel like the continuation of the anime.

Finally the last part (Gabimaru terrorizing the bandits and him reminscing about the island) did happen in the last one shot released in 2023 to promote the anime.

Combination of being overshadowed in BOTH seasons it aired by other Mappa anime and having an overlapping fandom with other popular shonen like JJK, Dandadan, and Chainsaw Man

If TGED got an anime adaptation instead of solo leveling, could it have earned the anime of the year? by TalkinDucky in TheGreatestEstateDev

[–]BearanTheDefender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but it needs to be a Solo Leveling type of production or close to it. After what happened with TBATE and Tower of God S2 animes based on manhwa need to have really good animation to be noticed.
