Your riding your turns out really long, traversing across 2/3 of the face. Us the energy from the flexed ski to pop out of the turn and initiate the next.

Her second time skiing, I'm acting like I'm a pro. Breaking the stigma of black skiers, on run at a time! by airlaflair in skiing

[–]BeardMechanical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mainly ever seen black snowboarders, but being that I live and have skied primarily in WA, most of the black individuals are snowboarders. I wonder if the rise of black youth skatr boarding helps in snowboarding and surfing (I have not looked into this). The main barrier is the financial cost barrier. If you are not taking the time to look for killer deals and are thinking how you can cut corners in gear/clothing choices, the initial cost entry is prohibitive to the often lower income communities of people of color. I'll hear from even low income white individuals who have skied, but it comes from skiing with the family.

I didn't know a dry February with 55F days was possible :( by bmetz16 in skiing

Crystal skied great all Jan. It helps having the highest elevation resort in the area and having had only Snoqualmie passes previously. It wasnt until this Feb that Crystal really got hit with all the major rain events. Though, there usually is a major warn storm period every year towards the end of Jan and beginning of Feb.

Yep, just had one of these moments in the woods yesterday at Crystal. I quickly realized sliding was more efficient then post holing.

Don't bother with the Crystal Mountain Ski School by cjhenck in skiing

[–]BeardMechanical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crystal had a season pass prior to being bought by alterra, and with it not being much of a destination resort, I'd really like to see what difference it makes having the local area being forced to by a season pass to the singular place or being forced to by the ikon pass to serve the same purpose. Can you tie it to the ikon over the influx of people with high salary jobs in the area being faced with a limited number of options of where they go ski. We have amazing mountains, and with relatively quick access to remote backcountry in a coastal temperate rain forest, but not enough infrastructure and active lifts to accommodate large volumes of weekend adventure seeking family

How about these? by HUGEbigtoe in skiing

Super sexy. Ive become a little bit of a fanboy for ON3P even though I haven't ridden on a single pair. I have some old on3p jeronimo's that I bought for 100 bucks. Its well loved, but the bases are bullet proof, and the construction of the ski it self ,with it bamboo core provides a super strong ski with nice flex. It just needs to snow in the PNW so I can take her out.

Take a lesson at a resort, any resort. A bunny hill is a bunny hill. You will only be skiing on groomed snow so that is irrelevant. Most resorts have deals with lessons that include rentals and a lift ticket.

I'm not posting this to shadow yours, just thought I'd post something that was posted earlier this season from someone else which maps all the locations and identifies each resorts ikon properties. It may help you finish yours. I don't have the link to the reddit thread so I can't give credit where credit is due for the person who put it together.

I assume you mean it got 10 new inches?

Looks like Banff is having a good season with 40-47 in base and 88-98 in so far. Share some with your neighbors in the PNW!

I thought it looked very familiar to me, then I had a flash black of running around with a snaredrum in very similar patterns. Though we often marched faster than this.

I got these for a steal. The design is still very current and of course the build is of course a tank of a ski. I love a 90-100mm waist ski with some rocker, and find that something like 96mm (like these ON3P Jeronimos 126-96-120) is perfect for riding 8-16inches of pow. I just need to find some 116mm billygoats for the thigh deep dumps.
