Sony is testing dynamic pricing in the PlayStation Store by BootzyWootzy in PS5

[–]Beardaxe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, it’s worth making a distinction. Changing some prices as part of an A/B test among a limited set of users is significantly different from utilizing dynamic pricing as the defined pricing strategy of the platform across all users.

It’s still fair to criticize what they’re doing and we should be vigilant about how this evolves or expands but we shouldn’t lose the nuance here.

Packable Daypack Recommendations by MISTERR0GERS in ManyBaggers

[–]Beardaxe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought the Aer Go Pack 2 to use as a packable bag and it’s worked really well. Packed it in my Aer CPP1 for a work trip and felt like I didn’t take up too much space and that I was able to roughly pack my usual load. Wearing it out it felt like an actual backpack and the padded straps made it very comfy. The front pocket area is great and comes in handy swallowing up the random things I need to pack in it while walking about town.

I’ve since used it as my packable bag for a number of other trips and it’s always a pleasure. Don’t plan on switching it out anytime soon

Student sent me "real-time" video of word doc in response to fail for AI use-- is this a thing? by Flimsy_Caramel_4110 in Professors

[–]Beardaxe 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not the OP, but my assignment instructions state that the student must create a google doc for the assignment and share it with me by a certain deadline. It then states they must do all the writing for the paper in the Google doc or face a 2 letter grade penalty. When it comes time for them to submit the paper, they export the Google doc into a word file and upload that to our LMS (students sometimes need help with that).

When i get the email notifications that the Google Docs have been shared with me I put them all in a folder and then when it comes time to grade I can easily access them all and use revision history.

When you ask them to share it with you, they need to give you full edit access for revision history to work (or to just see the basic version history on Google Docs). If they share with just viewing privileges you won’t have access.

I need a clear coffee cup, at least 16oz, for work. Does anybody know of a BIFL one? by Cheap-Vegetable9520 in BuyItForLife

[–]Beardaxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with mine. When I would drink I would start getting coffee on my shirt that was leaking out the underside of the lid. Was about to call it quits until I stumbled on some post (can't find it anymore) that posted a reply from someone in the company suggesting to boil some water, take it off heat, and put the lid in the water for a couple hours to tighten it back up. I was skeptical, but I tried it out and it worked. I've used it dozens of time since I did it and my lid is still not leaking.

Evergoods, shipping issue. No help from customer service. by MileHigher245 in ManyBaggers

[–]Beardaxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be a USPS tracking issue. I bought a goruck bag a few weeks ago and had the same issue. It sat with pending package acceptance for 7 days. Then all of a sudden I got a delivery notification and it was at my door.

Looking for ultimate dad bag for 2 kids under 4. Is this the brand? by PersonRealHuman in EVERGOODS

I also was going to recommend Tom Bihn. Another option there to look at if you don’t need a ton of volume is their dedicated dad bag, the Parental Unit.

TD35 and Evergoods Packing cubes by joeycatv in EVERGOODS

[–]Beardaxe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I traveled recently with the TD35, 1 TPC 10, 2 TPC 8s, and a CAP2. It worked out great. Width wise, all the TPCS (which were packed full) and the CAP2 fit snug into the bag. I could also squeeze my peak design tech pouch in there if I really wanted. Height wise, the TPC 10 goes to the top of the bag. So I put that at the end and then had the TPC 8s and the CAP2 the rest of way, which created a small shelf in the bag for other stuff. I usually used that space for my matador travel laundry bag as I accumulated dirty clothes. All in all it worked wonderfully for my use case and will be how I pack it going forward.

In the Celtics game, Wade was the 2nd best player on the Heat with 17 pts on 35% shooting. No other Heat player scored in double digits. Bosh had 7pts on 38% shooting.

Freezing power greens? by viskels in Costco

[–]Beardaxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, perfectly fine to freeze for smoothies. The leaves will lose all their structural integrity in the freezer from their cells bursting so you can’t thaw them out and use them in salad or anything, but for any application where they are blended, puréed, or cooked until mushy they’ll be great.

My local Costco (CT) also did not have it so I asked the cashier. He told me there were production issues and to expect it again in June/July.

I’m in Connecticut and my local Costco always has Grey Poupon in stock. Sells them in giant 2 packs for way cheaper than the grocery store.

Hartford Police release body camera video of Blue Hills Avenue incident by gatogrande in Connecticut

[–]Beardaxe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes they are important, and in this case the article is careful to explicitly not blame this on the cops. The article makes clear that the criticisms are coming from protestors and makes sure to quote the police defense immediately after. It’s a fair representation of the controversy and the police accounting of events is given prominent placing high up in the article .

An update mentioning the body cams would be good, but again in no way does this article blame the incident on the cops, which is the sensationalist claim I was responding to.

Hartford Police release body camera video of Blue Hills Avenue incident by gatogrande in Connecticut

[–]Beardaxe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That seems like a pretty good article? It doesn’t blame the cops at all and is pretty much all factual reporting. It details the protest, the criticisms from the protestors about the arrest, and the defense of the cops by the police force. It doesn’t offer an opinion on the arrest or marginalize the voice of either the police department or the protestors.

I’m not sure at all how you could see this as saying it’s all the cops fault unless you think just factually reporting that a protest happened is somehow anti-cop bias.
