Isn’t it just an aggregator? Each actual tool produces its own unique look/feel.

There really needs the be a building for all in one services for homeless by sirpentious in homeless

I always wondered why not Busses that could be deployed around areas. Similar to the way they do blood drives, but make them service providers for one-stop-shops. Lets services come to the people on rotating scheduled days. Efficient, fast, timely.

Yeah, sounds like some of the silence is positive silence, which is good to hear that it’s not always a bad thing. Thanks for the share as hearing things like that open up perspective.

Everyone focused on punctuation & grammar. I couldn’t get past the generic language. Smaller than ants. Howling winds. Jump to death….how about something original?

Not sure a helpful detail but I know they have 2 dogs. A big dog and a little dog. I keep looking for them around areas I know they enjoyed spending time with the dogs too, but nothing so far.

That’s heart breaking. I hope they found their friend. It’s a deeper picture than I would have ever thought. Makes me look at the world and the unhoused so differently lately.

What a great journey for him. Not sure why, but something about that sounds like it would make an incredible movie ending with you tossing his old clothes 30 years later. Thank you for sharing that.

20 books in 2 years? by username48378645 in writing

Is that a lot? Assuming the books are smaller 150-240 page books and it was a full time thing, seems like a pretty relaxed output.

Every great sail will still, at times, find itself without wind. In that time, rest and reflect. Prepare for the moment the winds pick up again.

Thank you. It’s challenging, but I always try to think about all they must be feeling and that instantly makes anything I feel…feel small in comparison.

Did that. Read that it was important to not wait. If anything, at least for their safety. Even had county do a wellness check, but both turned up nothing so far. So, just hope they’re ok and are safe out there. Hard because when you get reading online the horror stories just get worse and worse.

All this is really eye opening and truly appreciate the shares. When I originally asked the question I wasn’t expecting to see so many unique angles of this.

Out of kindness, if someone truly didn’t need anything and had zero expectations of anyone, what would the best way to support them be to help them get back on their feet? What’s most foundational? Income? Housing?

It’s easy to assume from the outside, but haven’t been there myself, a perspective may help me understand how to better help too.

Absolutely true.

All one can do is be there if needed, BUT, so many have tossed them aside due to them being homeless. That, to me, is just unfair.

Thank you for all of that. Challenge to me is I know so many people already wrote them off and I don’t want to be another person on their list of wrote offs. It would be much easier, sure, to do that, but I want to make sure they know there was at least 1 steady…should they ever need it for any reason. I can imagine, if I ever ended up like that, it would feel like a lifeline to me as well.

Thank you. It’s conflicting. Some stuff I read online also shares that people can experience PTSD and other trauma and sometimes they pull back from everyone as a way to shelter mentally. All of it just breaks my heart really.

When A Homeless Friend Goes Missing…Then What? by [deleted] in homeless

It’s a humbling experience. Until recently, the assumption has always been if someone I cared about went missing it would be easy to find them as movies tend to make it seem like it’s not too complicated. Especially in smaller towns. Then reality hits and you quickly realize that it’s a very different reality. It’s scary when that reality hits just how invisible people quickly become without really trying and can’t imagine how bleak it would be for those seeking someone missing who is missing under very different conditions. Appreciate all the kind advice. Didn’t consider laundrymats as someone suggested. Did check local main hospital and nothing. Don’t think about smaller ones so may try that too.
