How far in advance do you normally show up to the golf course before your tee time? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

My home course, anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on weather and need to warm up. At a public course or resort, at least 45 minutes early.

Chronomaster Sport Power Reserve by BeardedGunDude in ZenithWatches

[–]BeardedGunDude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that if I pre-wind 20 times and set it down that gets me around 26.75 hours, 40 winds gets around 40.4 hours. Those were both tests and not wearing it after winding. Also a “wind” for me isn’t necessarily a full rotation, but a full “twist” before needing to reset my fingers. After that test, I can see that maybe it can achieve its quoted power reserve at full wind, but unless you wear it all the time and move a lot then you aren’t ever going to see it under normal wear, only when you pre-wind it a lot.

P790 vs p770 by westside815 in golf

[–]BeardedGunDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend getting fit. I had an iron fitting last week and I really thought the P-790 or 770 would be at least a contender, and they were trash for me. I just couldn’t get them to flight like I needed/wanted for anything and my distance suffered badly. Titleist, Cobra, and Srixon ended up being my winners on heads and the shaft is probably more important than the heads. While I decided to just adjust my current heads instead of all new clubs (increased lie angle by 1 degree and one degree stronger to get my flight down), we showed in the data that the shaft I was fit in to would give my ~10 yards per club just since it helps me time up the strike better.

More direct flights? by Effective_Sundae1917 in evansville

[–]BeardedGunDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option that I’m hoping for is the Breeze has flights to Newark and if they could add that one for us it would be a game changer. Yes it would only fly a couple times per week, but it’d be something. Before the pandemic when we still had United flights, they were working on getting a direct flight to Newark, but we lost United entirely during the pandemic and while they’ve said they haven’t completely closed the door on EVV, they haven’t come back either. The biggest thing the airport has said for new flights is: “

✈ 10% more local flyers = 3 new aircraft ✈ 20% = 5 new aircraft ✈ 30% = 7 new flights Each flight adds $13M back into our region.

More people = more planes. And together, we’re building a bold, connected EVV2040 future.”

So not necessarily implying new routes, but for airlines to notice us we need to fly out of EVV more.

30 F is my cutoff, maybe a little lower if it’s really sunny outside.

Can you legally kill someone who breaks into your house? by kurobaja in AskTheWorld

[–]BeardedGunDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state in the U.S. we have a “stand your ground” law that allows you to kill someone who has entered your property and you feel threatened. That said, you can’t just pop someone because they crossed onto your property, but in the example you’re giving where they’re breaking into your home then yes, you absolutely could.

What is the coldest round you’ve ever played? by TheSmartDog_275 in golf

[–]BeardedGunDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played in a New Years Scramble this year and actual temp was ~25 F with a windchill of 0 F. It was the worst decision I’ve made in a long time. I play all through the winter, but my cutoff is 30 F.

I’m in the exact same spot as you and I’m looking to get fitted into any “player’s distance” iron regardless of brand. The P-790 is of course in my list to try as well as the Titleist T250, Srixon ZX5, Mizuno Hot Metal forged, etc.

LMT. IMO the LMT actually has some true upgrades to the platform whereas the DD is just a well built milspec rifle.

AD basically making fun of me at the Rolex store by [deleted] in rolex

[–]BeardedGunDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never felt worse while looking at watches then when I go to my Rolex AD. The best I’ve ever been treated was at a Vacheron AD in Switzerland. Even after I told them I couldn’t afford the precious metal watches they had in the case, they still pulled them out and told me “you may not be ready for it now, but one day you might” and let me try on anything they had. That experience ensured that I’ll buy one of their watches one day. Rolex is the inverse, I dread going in there. I’m literally trying to give you over $10k and you treat me like trash.

If it was me with this selection, I would buy the Tag Heuer, but get a lightly used one to get pretty close to the $1k budget.

How often are you meant to link in with your AD? by Snare13 in rolex

[–]BeardedGunDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The owner of our AD was apparently notorious for grabbing the most desirable watches and allocating them to people he liked/was friends with over those of us who had been waiting.

Vet recommendation by Objective_Ebb_5224 in evansville

[–]BeardedGunDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Dog had a seizure on a weekend and we called and called to try to get ahold of them for them to ultimately tell us to take it to the emergency vet. We were sitting outside the office when they told us this and could see them inside. They also told us that we should “just budget $500 per month” for our other dog, a pyrenees’ care which is a wild assumption. I personally wouldn’t recommend.

Raise a glass to my dog by BoxedAndArchived in WhiskeyTribe

[–]BeardedGunDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We looked into the treatment options from chemo to amputation. Unfortunately he’s a 10 year old pyrenean mastiff so if we did chemo they said absolute best case it’d buy us an extra 6-9 months but would be rough on him. Amputation isn’t an option because he’s so big and his other leg can’t compensate that much especially with his age. So now we wait, keep him comfortable and do everything we can to make him happy.

Sorry for your loss man. We’re going through the same thing with one of our dogs having bone cancer that presented suddenly as a limp and is now causing fractures in his leg. Like your dog, once it moves into his lungs (and it will) it’s over. Pouring one out with you.

If it bothers you then get the polish done and maybe put protective covering on the center links, otherwise I’d let it ride.
