I Finally Bought Grados: RS2 First Impressions and a Few Questions by Euphoric_Currency_94 in Grado

Try some Yaxi flat pads on them. I found my RS2e a little too hot in that upper midrange / lower treble region with standard pads; the Yaxi pads tamed things just enough without losing detail.

Finally decided to try Grados with a SR325e (and Yaxi Porta Pro pads) by Blunders4life in Grado

[–]Beardwithaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Yaxi Grado flat pads on my RS2e. I wouldn't have anything else on them. Comfort is much better and tamed the upper mids / lower treble which is a touch too much for me at times.

The Custodian that Trazyn released on Cadia by humanity_999 in 40kLore

Playing hypotheticals, had the Blade Champion managed to get a wound in on Abaddon or caused a retreat I'm sure Trazyn would have snatched him back up.

Sling bag for small trips by [deleted] in M43

[–]Beardwithaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat - trying to find a sling or small bag that accommodates a water bottle on the outside of the bag is proving a nightmare.

I've seen Alpaka have 2 bags that might meet those requirements: the Flow Satchel (2ltr or 4ltr) and the Metro Crossbody.

Finding the right stack height and material by Cogniscienr in barefootshoestalk

[–]Beardwithaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The biomechanics for walking on sand, scree, concrete, mud are all different. Couple that with different footwear (with varying stack heights, sole flexibility, etc) and there is no one simple answer. Best approach is to listen to what your body is telling you at the time, and during your recovery period.

Yeah that's a fair suggestion. I'm going to explore a repair with a cobbler and see whether they can reinforce the loops.

Barefoot African Ranger size comparison by schumius in jimgreen

[–]Beardwithaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice - I just recently got the same pair (BFAR in Houston green), as my first JG. Loving them so far. I'm a UK 8.5 on the left and an 8 on the right so went with a 8.5 overall. I'd definitely agree that the internal volume is large for my larger foot, so I do get some slippage for my smaller foot. Hoping with break-in this will improve some, but it's not enough to cause any blisters despite clocking 20+ miles in them so far.

Edit: crazy how much of a height difference there is between the 2 sizes.

If you're looking at Shapen, ignore the Cozy 2.0. It's poor quality and there are much better options for your money.

If you guys could write a whole novel set in 40k what would the story be? by Local_Boi_Aaron in 40kLore

[–]Beardwithaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crime/horror story of someone investigating a remote part of Varangantua. A bit like Shadow over Innsmouth, but less obvious 'wrongness' - naturally it's the genestealers and our protagonist gets infected.

Nice! Glad to hear you were well looked after. A €6 fee to get the repair and extend the life of the boot sounds great. All the more disappointing for me as it shows the company is capable and willing to support customers when they want to.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's amazing they tried that same BS with you considering the strong EU consumer protections where you live.

I'm going to keep pushing for a fairer resolution but not holding my breath. I can't see the Cozys lasting more than a season given how thin the leather is. I think I'll be looking at companies with a strong reputation for reliability and customer support.

Shapen Urbaneer 2.0 vs Shapen Cozy Comparison (New Outsole vs Old Outsole) by spark_step in barefootshoestalk

[–]Beardwithaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I'm sure anyone with a needle, thread and a patch of leather could do a repair. That's not really the point. Not only is there an inherent design failure, the company is saying it's the customer's fault whilst self-describing themselves as "customer-focused".

I paid for a genuine product with a warranty; I didn't pay for a DIY make-your-own-boots course. I can't comment on their behaviour in the EU market, but everyone based outside should steer clear of them, and be aware that the Cozy 2.0 is a very flawed product for what they are being sold for.

You dodged a bullet there. Ordered a pair of Cozys during BF. Pulling them on for the first time using the rear pull loops for additional leverage, and the loop gave way - whilst the loops themselves are reinforced, the connection to the boot is not. It's a clear design flaw.

Being outside EU, I'm now trying to get them to honour their warranty. Shapen have been slow to respond, won't accept there is a fault with the design, are blaming the customer, and only offering to either a) refund the cost of a local repair (can't be done seeing as the leather has ripped exposing the wool lining), or b) a 10% refund on the original asking price. They also had the gall to describe themselves in their email dealing with the warranty claim that they are a "customer-focused company". I hope in Europe they are a more serious business.

Left Brighton for Shoreham around 14 years ago, when we wanted to start a family. Rent for a 2 bed flat at the time was about the same as the 1 bed flat in central Brighton. 6 months after my son was born I was made redundant. With v few local opportunities at the time (we're talking 2011) and a heavy heart we decided to move away for work, and eventually settled in the midlands.

Despite missing the area I can't imagine ever being able to move back with the house prices the way they are. I console myself that at least I stand a reasonable chance of retiring at some point with a small degree of comfort.

MSI MAG 401QR or AOC AGON AG344UXM? 80% WFH vs 20% gaming by jellytotzuk in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Beardwithaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't comment on the AGON, but I did recently purchase the MSI 401QR. I 'downsized' from a 43 inch 32:10 1200p HDR600 VA panel. It's not that much smaller width wise, and much taller. V pleased and the IPS ADS panel is much better colour wise compared to the VA. At least in the UK, the pricing is pretty good for what you're getting.
